Anyone know of sandy swim beaches at any of the local area lakes?
I know that Lake Lewisville's Sneaky Petes has a little beach, but it's so noisy with the loud music and of course you're expected to buy from them to use the beach.
I'm looking more for a little beach to play all day on. I'm willing to travel an hour or 2.

There's Collin Park Marina - east of Plano in Wylie - on Lake Lavon....

There's more beach area now (from what I remember from last summer) than what the pictures show. I think the pictures on the website are old. Bring an umbrella (or camping tent so the kids can get out of the sun for a bit) and lots of sunblock because there's no shade on the beach. It can get crowded on the weekends sometimes, but not all weekends.
I think the fee to enter the park is $2 per vehicle, plus $1 per person.
Have Fun!

Lake Benbrook (just south of Fort Worth) has a great little beach area. I am not sure if it is sand, but it is very kid friendly and has play equipment for kids in the water. There is NO pressure to purchase anything just a small fee to get through the gates. You may want to call them as I have not been there since all of the drought.

I know that The Colony has one at Lake Lewisville. It not very big. It also has covered picnic tables and a little park.
Last summer a friend of mine found this fabulous state park out near Mineral Wells (about an hour west of Fort Worth). The lake has a wonderful sandy beach and warm waters. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/lake_m...
Sneaky Pete's also has a swimming pool that's under an awning. Very good for families during the daytime. The music is loud.
Lake Ray Roberts. There are some good spots north of Denton.
There's a small lake called Burger's Lake north of Ft. Worth that has a sandy beach and fun stuff for the kids to do. Check out the website - www.burgerslake.com
It's a fun time...and not too far from home.
The Isle de Bois state park on Lake Ray Roberts just north of Denton has a great sandy beach. There is a small day use fee.
I have never been to this place but some of my friends have and they say it is wonderful. It is called Burger's Lake and if you would like to check it out go to www.burgerslake.com it is located somewhere in fort worth. I think if you are 6 yoa and older there is an admission fee, but it will give you all the details on the web sit.
I have been told about a beach recently but I will need to talk to my neighbor again to get the specifics. I will try to get that info and send it to you. I would also love to hear what other advice you get as I have been wanting to find the same thing!
Thanks,
E.
