My late mother-in-law loved loved loved what she called Hollywood Rummy. I'd love to make a spreadsheet with the hands so that I can teach my children their Grandmother's favorite card game. I don't remember all the hands.. I know they were similar to poker... 3 Of A Kind, 4 Of A Kind, and such, but I can't remember all of them and was wondering if any of you know the hands?? I believe an Ace is 15 pts., face cards are 10 pts. and number cards are 5 points for and against you.... If you guys know any more info., I'd love to re-learn it. :)

TIA

L.

Hoyle is the time-honored authority on game rules. You can search on line but you can buy a book in any bookstore. That might be good for the kids to look at - they can learn the value of books without you having to supervise them on the computer all the time.

And I think it's great that you are connecting the kids to Grandma!

I personally don't know, but I would recommend Google. You can find out anything on Google.

We never called it Hollywood rummy, but you're only missing same suit runs from that list. Gin rummy, you hold all seven cards and drop all at once. Rummy 500 you put down sets as you get them and spread out the draw pile so that everything back to the card you want must be picked up. The round is over when the last set is laid and a single discard card thrown down by the first player to go out. Sets are tallied, the losing players subtract remaining cards in their hands from their sets, and rounds are played until someone reaches 500 points. There are some other detailed rules, but that's the gist. I'm sure you can find tutorials on line.
