My parents gather monthly at different friends homes and they always have theme parties. It's exciting to see what the theme is. They dress up accordingly and then the activities/games are theme appropiriate!!
We love to do small get togethers at our home frequently. To add more spice in that looking for some fun party games for couples. Tired of playing pictionary, taboo, scrabble, poker. Would love to hear new suggestions.
WOW! I am so overwhelmed with the response. Truly, mamasource and its members Rocks! Before posting the request, I was debating whether or not i should post it; as it’s not that important compared to other requests/posts. But I am amazed to get over 40+ responses so quickly. It shows the spirit of all the mothers. Thank you all for your wonderful advice!!!! I was able to use lot of suggestions from it.

Hi---we love to play games also--and an aunt and uncle who are retired gave us the dice game called "Farkel"--it's easy, full of laughs, mostly luck at shaking the dice. We have played it many times with young and old--dirctions right on the box---good luck and Have fun!!

A really fun one we like to play is called PIT. Very fun, loud and boisterous game that is for 8 people. How about Uno, Rummy Royal(Tripoly), Spoons was always fun too.
Have you thought of those old party games such "pass the orange" (just saw that on an episode of Malcolm in the Middle) or the one where you tie two spoons together you have a relay to get them down through your clothes and on to the next person. You can always take kids games and modify them to adult themes. I still remember my dad's 40th birthday (keep in mind I was about 8 and this was the mid 70's so 40 was OLD), my mom's best friend was an artist so she painted this big poster of Barbie in a bikini minus her top. They took balloons and played "pin the boobs on Barbie" much more fun than pin the tail on the donkey.
Just a few ideas--not knowing the caliber of your group and what they would think is fun.
When getting together with friends, we love the game Apples to Apples. There is a kids version and an adult version.
i BELIVE IT IS CALLED IMAGINE IF...YOU TEAM UP OR CAN BE SINGLE TO PLAY.
iDEA IS TO USE THIS GAME TO IMAGE WHO YOU KNOW LIKE BOB,CHUCK,OR JAMES WOULD BE THE CUTEST GIRL IF THEY HAD TO DRESS AS ONE, OR WHICH ONE WOULD BE THE GOOFEST AT THIS AND THAT.
REALLY GETS THE GIGGLES AND TALES GOING.
AVAILABLE IN TOY AREAS EVEN AT WALLY WORLD FOR AROUND10-15 $S.

Cranium makes several fun games for adults and children. We love their Whoonu game, although it's probably more of a family game than an adult game. I've heard Apples to Apples is a lot of fun. If you want something more elaborate game stores used to have mystery party games where people would show up dressed in their assigned character and have dinner and act out a mystery throughout the evening. We had fun with one set on a cruise ship in the 1920s. Spoons is fun if you have a big group and want to get silly. Have fun!
Set - a great, elegantly simply game that makes your mind work in ways it's not used to working, fun
Apples to Apples - this is probably the most recommended one here, funnest with a group of about 8
the dictionary game - my favorite - just grab a dictionary and give everyone pen and paper. one person at a time finds a word that no one has heard of. everyone writes down what the definition could be, while the person with the dictionary writes down the actual definition. that person then anonymously reads off all the answers. people get a point for guessing the real definition, plus a point for each person that guesses their fake definition as the real one. I guess it's like Balderdash which I've never played but you don't need to go out and buy it
Pass The Ace - card game. i play this with my big family and it's a riot. maybe it's only fun with crazy families though.
I am pretty sure that I am the world's biggest game fan, so thanks for asking this question - I've heard of some new games in the answers that I'm going to try out!
try buzz word. it is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two games that I think people of all ages will love are "Apples to Apples" and Blokus.
We also love to get together with friends. Some games we play that seem to go over well with everyone is Battle of the Sexes; lots of laughs and the girls always seem to win, Catch Phrase; better with 4-6 people, but we've adapted to larger groups, Apples to Apples; this game is perfect for large groups, Balderdash; kind of brainy but lots of laughs too, and our favorite is Guesstures; it's like charades, hilarious!
Have fun!

We just played a game at work that would be really fun. It's called Imaginiff....and the questions go something like: Imaginiff __________ were a flower garden, what would it have in it? Imaginiff __________ were honked at by an impatient driver, how would they react? It then lists out 6 different responses that people need to choose from. We played it that the individual who the question was for had to choose what they felt represented themselves. Whoever matched their answer received a point and moved forward on the game board. Quite fun. We also play a card game called "pass the queen". It might be kind of hard to explain but here goes. Start with one deck of cards and every player needs a dollar bill or 4 quarters (cheap entertainment really), dealer deals one card to each player. Kings are safe and need to be turned up at the beginning of the round. The person to the left of the dealer decides if they want to keep their card or trade it with the person to their left (if that person has a King, they are stuck with what they have). You could end up with something worse than what you have but you want LOW #'s so if you have a 10 probably you would trade with the player to your left and hope for something smaller. We play that Ace is low. Queen is the worst!! Once the play gets back to the dealer, they decide if they want to keep the card they have, or they can choose to flip the top card of the deck (this is a good option if the Queen makes it all the way around the table). Then everyone flips their cards over and whoever has the highest card pays a quarter (or folds a corner of their $ bill). Dealer changes with each hand and rotates around the table. 4 losses and you are out of the game. Whoever ends up with money left is the winner of that round. Fun game and cheap entertainment. You can play for quite awhile on a few dollars. Good luck!!
our favorites are catch phrase, beyond balderdash, and Apples to Apples.
Hi S.,
Here's a couple of suggestions
"Apple to Apples", "Gestures" Have fun, I love playing games.
Peace,

Mom with home based business on Mamasource
Scattegories and That 80's game are great!!!
Scavenger Hunt, throughout a neighborhood
How about scattergories, catch phrase or Boxers or Briefs. Those are all really fun games.
"How to host a Murder" games are a lot of fun for adults! We love doing them with our friends.
Loaded Questions is our favortite.
I don't know if you are looking to spend much money but the new Nintendo Wii is a lot of fun. Just some of the basic games everyone can get involved in. Bowling or tennis are my favors when you have a group of people playing. Plus with it being an interactive game it gets everyone up and moving. Which in this day and age we need to do more of. Be careful though, you might end up getting really competitive.

My absolute favorite board game is Encore. It is a board game and you split the group into two teams. Draw a word or category and each team has to come up with a song with that word in it. (Must sing 8 words minimum.) You counter back and forth until a group is stumped, other team gets the point.
We used to play this after cast parties - drama people know more songs than you could imagine. Lots of fun for music loving people who aren't too shy.
Have fun,
S.
We love to play a game called "Apples to Apples" with our friends. The adult version is in a red box and the junior/kids version is in a green box. They sell it everywhere, including Target! It's really, really fun and a "no brainer" so it's great for friendly get-togethers when you want to chat at the same time. Have fun!
Bunco is fun; need 12 players. Even the kids can help out- just shaking dice, no brainer.

A fun way to change around pictionary and get a laugh is to use playdough and make people create the things with playdough. You can play flashlight tag or hide & seek outside at night. Those are fun ones with adults. Adults do not usually like to run so it is easier to use a flash light. We also play a song game and have a lot of fun. You make a list of words. For each word everyone tries to come up with a song that has that word in it and then they have to sing a line or two of the song with the word in it. The first person to come up with a song gets the point for the word. You could also have an olympics party. You just have to come up with silly variations of the events. You could have them throw something silly like paper airplanes for the javelin throw. You can shoot shirt guns or foam darts at targets. You could do bowling and add some water to empty 2 liter soda bottles to use as pins. The most fun games at adult parties are adapted kids games. They get everyone feeling silly and having fun.
Flux is a fun, crazy card game. You can buy the special deck at most stores specializing in games.
Cranium, Apples to Apples and Loaded Questions! Have fun!
Apples to Apples, Buzz Word (Pizza Huts normally has cards to this game at the tables), and Cranium are some that my family are addicted to. My favorite is Apples to Apples, you generally need 4 or more to get these going....FUN!
Check out a fun little dice and `game-chips' game called "LCR". L-C-R stands for left, center, and right. Each person at the table takes turns rolling 3 dice with these letters on them. Depending on which way the dice turns up per roll determines which person's (either to your left, right or center) chips you steal. The person with the most, if not all the chips at the end wins.
It's very fast paced, lasts about 10 to 15 minutes per game. To up the ante you can substitute the chips with anything you like such as gag gifts, money, or whatever theme of the night party favors you'd like. This is a wedding shower favorite, and you can purchase the game at most party supply stores like Party America, or go online and type in LCR. It comes in a tiny tube, costs about 2-5 dollars, and is usually found at the check out counter.
I first learned about the game at a girlfriend's bridal shower. It was a blast and got very competitive with people trying to "steal" gifts that they wanted for themselves. The shower's host put in kitchen items like timers, garlic presses, silicone mitts, and other cool gadgets.
I hosted a "wacky-themed" Christmas party last year and tossed in weird gag gifts like exploding golf balls, whoopi cushions, flies in ice cubes etc.
It's very fun and you can make it what you want.
Settlers of Catan is awesome, also Hand and Foot- a card game. You can google either and find Settlers or directions for playing Hand and Foot. Hope you have fun playing these. My husband and I and our friends are HUGE gamers. We absolutely love these. Another I just remembered is a game called "Pit." Get your game on!!!!
Our family has loved playing "Loaded Question" and "Apples to Apples". Loaded Question sounds racy but it's not. Everyone writes an answer to a question and one person tries to guess who wrote which answer. People always write funny things and sometimes you learn something new about them.
They are both board games you can buy at a game store or toy store (I think.)
Have fun!
Check out Simplyfun.com They have a bunch of fun games. And if you have a party you can earn them free!
My husband and I get together with several couples regularly and were introduced to a very fun game called "ImagineIff". You need 6-8 people for the game, but it is a total hoot! Give it a shot. Another one that we seem to enjoy is Dominos, Train. It's a bit more serious of a game, takes more time to play it, but we all like it as well. Hope you find some new ones you all love.
We love Who, What, Where. It's a twist on Pictionary. Three cards are drawn-a who, a what, and a where. You then have to draw a picture or a series of pictures that incorporates all three things. The more people who can guess your picture the more points you score. Sometimes the combinations are pretty funny--Elvis, changing a flat tire, at Big Ben for example.
Have you played Apples to Apples - it's a great game for all ages. The other thing our family truly enjoys is Karoki - and we are terrible singers. But it seems like if I get it out when there are people here - someone always sings and we always have some great laughs!!
Enjoy the simple life!
Look online for party games... there's millions!
Our all time favorite game is called pass the pigs! It's like dice but instead of dice you toss little pigs. And what ever way they land you get so many points. Say two land on there feet its so many points. The game is made by milton bradley. It's so easy to play the little ones can play too! We play a little twist though the winner must ware a piggy nose till the next winner. I hope this helps! Have fun!
Have you ever had a Passion Party? It's an in home party like a Tupperware party but the product line is bath, massage, edibles and toys. I do parties and enjoy educating couples on how to enhance their relationships and spice things up a bit! If you are interested let me know where you are located and I'll find someone in your area to do a show for you and your friends! K.
We recently played Cranium at a Couple's Night Out, and it was a blast!
Check out my web sight kimedwardson.simplyfun.com Simply Fun is a company that specializes in family and friends game gatherings. They have easy to learn rules, or like we do, we make our own rules. We love to play Tune Baya. It is played like spoons, only with microphones. You have to write down a song with a certain word in it. It doesn't have to be in the title. You draw a card to find out what word it is. Then, you grab a little microphone and everyone has to sing the song with you. You get points for everyone that sings. It gets real interesting. We have had times where we have laughed so hard that we are crying and stomachs hurt.
You don't have to know how to sing, that is what makes it sooooo much fun. There are other games for all ages.
Check out the site and let me know what you think.

If you have more than 6 people, we like to play either Apples to Apples (Barnes and Nobles). Or our favorite is the electronic hand held Catch Phrase.
Just wanted to let you know about a website called partygamecentral.com. I have gone there numerous times for games for birthday parties and games for a Mom's group I'm in. They also have games for couples and all different kinds of cattergories. This is an awesome site for games. Now the games are not board games but activity games. Take a look and decide for yourself. That's great that you still get together and have fun with the adults. Have fun!!!!
We love playing these Cranium cames - Pop 5 & Turbo Cranium. They are lot's of fun. We also enjoy playing Left, Center, Right for quarters. It's fun because it could keep going because when the last player rolled the diced they rolled a Center so then nobody one the first round so we played another round. We've also done charades where everyone rights down an idea to act out for the opposite team. It's lot's fun if you like acting!
We really like Apples to Apples, Quiddler, Canasta Caliente, The A-Maze-ing Labyrinth, Bunco, Catch Phrase, and Phase 10.
