Does anyone know of a cheap place either online or around Des Moines or Omaha to get good rugs. They would need to be a large size as they will be going in the beedrooms. I do not want to go overboard when redoing the upstairs. This starts in March. (lets hope lol)

What can I do next?

You could look at carpet stores for remnants. Sometimes they are large enough to cover the entire floor and can be finished on the edges so they won't unravel or laid like regular carpet. Usually much less cost then regular carpet.

If you're looking for something simple, just one color and no patterns, you can go to Menards. The have remnants for under $100. We have hardwood floors, so we have one in our living room that is probably 9' by 11'. Because of the layout of my boys' room, they have 2 - 5' by 7's or 6' by 8's. Those were less than $50 each.

I second Ikea. They have a nice variety of rugs and are very affordable.

We got our BIG area rug, from our local Home Depot.
It is nice and we love it.
The same thing, from a regular interior design store, cost double.

Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha?? They will deliver them too. We have purchased a number of things from there and have had good luck in finding what we want. The service was good, too.

Happy shopping!

I would try Overstock.com. I found a nice wool rug for our living room- I would say the only drawback is that the color was a bit more muted than it was on the screen. They might have less expensive than the wool-- I was trying to avoid the fumes that some rugs have.
