Does anyone know of a website or a person that can help me do a résumé for a low cost or free, or help me make a new one. The one I have made doesn't look good in my eyes and I lost my job yesterday, so I am very emotional over it and just want to get back to work, I have not had to make a résumé in 10 years, I am looking on websites for help but they want so much money, and since I lost my job I cannot spend tons of cash :( any references would be great, even someone who likes to volunteer to do this or will help me at a low cost. I feel I put to much in and then if I take info out I feel I'm leaving out important skills I have. Man this is so confusing and I am just getting frustrated :( thanks everyone

I'm so sorry you are going through this.
I know exactly what it's like - I was laid off in March and I'm looking for a job too.
It's quite a shock.
I've been continuously employed for 27 years and job searching is WAY different now than it use to be.
Getting your resume in order is a priority.
Look to your job description and prior evaluations to get wording for describing what you did.
Once you have your resume, then use that to get your LinkedIn profile established.
It's hard, but we'll get through this eventually.
Hang in there!

Google "resume" & you will get a template.
They have some very good professional ones to follow.
Use it as an aid to follow inserting your personal information in the
template.

You'll get through this. Take it one step at a time.

I would use one of the templates on Word. Then, ask every friend you know to read it and give their critique. Especially if you have any friends in the field that you want a position in.

I am sorry this happened to you. My company downsized a few years ago and I found my self needing to update my resume. Yikes! I found the local "unemployment" office/job service a great resource. They have all the local papers, and the computers are already set up with the best search tools for jobs. They also have people available to help you write your resume.

In our town people can get resume help at the local library. Maybe your library offers a similar service.
