I am doing a firetruck theme and was going to paint paw prints around the room on the walls...does anyone have an easy way to do this and with what kind of stencil? also, would spray paint be the best way?

If you go to a store like Michael's craft store you can get stencils for just about anything. The stencils are thin and plastic and you hold them up to the wall or tape them while you are painting. They make stencil paint and brushes that will be with the stencils. Stencil paint is really thick and you tap it on with a stencil brush that is either a sponge or a flat top brush. It is really easy if you get the right tools. Spray paint is super messy and wont work well with stencils because it will run down between the plastic and wall.

you could try sponging them on the wall - it has a different 'look,' but they can turn out great - you can use different materials - like an actual sponge, wood block, etc...and then you can cut it to look how you want it to and dip it in paint and just press it to the wall....or you can cut out the design on a plastic sheet and sponge in the lines, each pay print would be a little unique....no crisp lines...but cute and easy. If you wanted something a little more crisp, you can always buy stencils, or use your own design on the cut-out piece of plastic and use a small brush to fill it in instead of the sponge.

Hi. I do alot of stenciling on my kids walls. I always use a stencil brush. You gently pounce the color on. I don't think I would use spray paint because it's hard to control were the paint is going. Most stencils have a repeating pattern and if using spray paint I would think it would be hard to keep it from going in the holes of the next one. Also everytime I have use spray paint the "mist" gets all over everything else, which is why you have to put paper over everything you don't want the paint on. I use spray paint for fans etc, times when I want the paint to get into every nook and cranny. To answer the second question, I prefer plastic stencils as they are reusable, unlike paper ones. If you or someone you know has a cricut machine you can make you own stencils. I love doing that. Good luck! Oh make sure you use paint in the little tubes, not regular paint; it's thicker and gives better coverage.

My girlfriend always uses a projector. the old fashion kind we had in school. Our church has one...there not really in use to much anymore so ask around to borrow one...they are amazing! for projecting objects onto the walls/cielings. Have fun...Deb
