I want to spend some time with just myself and my husband for a vacation this summer. A weekend getaway from everything. We didnt have much of a honeymoon, only stayed at a crappy motel and I was pregnant! So was a drag.

Any ideas? I live in Cumberland md, looking for something only about an hour or two away, not too far. I heard about Canaan Valley. Anyone know their sweetheart package details? I cant view it on my phone!

Any ideas for me and hubby?

Need something in md, va, wv, or pa! Surrounding states.. Help please :D wanna surprise him!

What can I do next?

Have you searched on www.vrbo.com or www.vacationrentals.com? I've found nice getaways there, but I'm unfamiliar with the area you're searching for.

Can't help on this one sweetie, I'm on the west coast. But please don't be upset at hubby if he doesn't find the outing as "romantic" as you do. He is, after all, a man! My husband and I finally went to Hawaii, were on the water in a boat at sunset. It was beautiful. I turned to my husband of 15 years and said, "Isn't this romantic?", which brought the response, "Um, what's romantic about it?" God love him, but they really just don't see things the way we do! That story gets told in our family quite regularly....

I went to FSU for one semester...the mountains were not for me!! But I know where you're at :).

My hubby and I enjoy National Harbor - it's probably about 2.5 hours from you but amazing. We stay at the Wyndham there and there are nice places to eat and just walk around. Honestly though, we really enjoyed just sitting on the couch with no TV, no kids, and reading - lol...how romantic is that?

Pittsburgh is fun--catch a baseball game, go to a nice restaurant, museums--a little further than you want though

Go to the castle in Mt. Savage--so beautiful, each room is decorated different, massages available, room service, afternoon tea included, have weekends with mystery performance theme--I know there's not much to do in Mt. Savage itself...but for a 1 or 2 night stay in bed vacation it was so nice! Finding a place to hike would be okay

My husband and I went to Berkeley Springs, WV. We stayed at a BnB (Highlawn Inn) and went and had massages at the state park there. The BnB had great breakfasts and has rooms that are not in the main house so it's private too. It was very relaxing and of course romantic. Berkeley Springs is a cute little town and there are a couple good restaurants. One called Lot 12, great food and you'll need to dress up a little.

Check out Smithfield, VA. We went there for a conference and are looking forward to going back to explore it more. Very quaint town with lots of history, a nice farmers' market, a beautiful park to walk around, and cute shops on nice streets to walk around.

If you want me to find the name of the very nice hotel we stayed at, just send me a personal message and I will look it up for you.

Where ever you end up I hope you have a fun memorable time.

Carnival has cruises that leave out of Baltimore. My wife and I took one (9 Days) from there for our 30th anniversary and had a wonderful time. You'll have to check them out to see if they have one that fits with your schedule.

Its plenty romantic. The sun setting over the water and the golden glow of the sun reflecting off the waves was so fantastic. As the waves broke the sunlight seemed to sparkle like diamonds on a golden bracelet.

They have 5-star restaurants on board and a tremendous selection of entrees.

Good luck to you and yours.

One of our best anniversaries was when my sister kept the kids and we stayed in the city and did all the things we wanted for a week. A few days before my husband found 3 day packages at the St. Regis and the Mandarin Oriental. While at the St Regis we walked to the museums, went to movies and ate each night at a restaurant we'd been wanting to try. The Mandarin has beautiful views and a great spa and fitness center plus a beautiful pool. I loved the luxurious bathrooms in both. Left us feeling pampered, reconnected and recharged.
