Robot Mops - Replacement Ideas & Suggestions

Mamas & Papas-

I ask as my roomba cleans in the living room, if any of you have recently purchased a scooba or similar product. The one we had the 390, which we bought in 2012, died. It had been back and forth with customer service at least a half dozen times for replacement batteries, replacement processors etc. Thinking honor had been satisfied, or perhaps a less than shrewd move on my part, I decided to throw it out rather than pursue yet another replacement.

We are now keen on getting another robot mop, especially with #2 on the way, clean floors at little effort are really worth the comparatively high pricetag. Not sure what is on the market of late. Anyone have one that they would like to rave about?

Thanks,
F. B.

So What Happened?

We have a steam mop. It goes largely unused. I'll likely get another scooba. Even with the inconvenience of having to return and replace it several times during its life having a machine clean my floors when I am not in the house is a great treat. I don't have to do the job. I don't have to hear the noise. My floors are cleaner. Everything else is less dusty as there is less dust being kicked up.

Funny I was just researching this myself :). We have the 595 which has worked flawlessly for the last two years. Taken quite a few bumps and bruises along the way as well. It's the "pet" one that is supposed to be better at taking care of pet hair etc.

I would definitely take a look at the irobot website as they just released a new "900" series which looks substantially better in terms of technology (price too I'm sure ;(.

What's funny is I don't think there is really any competition...basically it's irobot or nothing.

Good luck! These things are addictive.

UPDATE - oh no! I see you were asking about the mop! Looks like I need to get a cup of coffee or three to read things a bit better. Well I'll leave my above comment as is, we love the vacuum, but have never used the mop.

I have 2 different steam mops. I hate the one that has a bag that goes on a frame so you can flip it over. It's like trying to press down on a spot with a...I don't know, all I know is when I try to press down on a touch sticky area I have to put my fully covered who on top of the mop head and forcefully push back and forth to get the mop to have pressure.

My other steam mop has a solid flat area and I put the pad on the floor and then push the mop onto it. They stick together and then I push back and forth which causes water to enter the steam chamber and I have tons of steam and force to press into a spot.

So I love my steam mop and find it easier to use.

sorry, I never bought one, everyone I know with one has problems with it. I bought a steam mop instead. Let us know if you get a new one. I really want one, but I can't fathom buying one and having to keep sending it back for repairs.

I've yet to have a problem with my vacuum, and I've since bought one for my mom, and this year I may buy one for my MIL-don't know if they sell them in the UK.
