I just looked at all of mine, and realized all are Hoovers.
By a sweeper, I am not too sure what you classify as a sweeper... a hand push non electric kind or a vaccum?
The BEST vaccum I think I have ever owned is the one I just bought recently (7-8 months ago) at Home Depot for $100 is the Hoover Z400. It lookes a little funny like a spce age robot, but it works AMAZING on pet hair, and all the dander, and dust that Phoenix has to offer. It does fill up quickly if you have long haired dogs that shed a lot like mine, but it is very easy to empty.
We also have a Hoover SteamVac Dual Widepath (about 179 at Target)for a carpet cleaner that is indispensible with kids and pets. I love it because it has great suction, leaves the carpets clean, has a seperate chamber for the soap, so you can use clean water to lift out the dirt AND the saop so your carpet doesnt get so dirty so fast. And it leaves the carpet only lightly damp, not saoking wet like so many of the others, it dries SOOOO fast.
The other Hoover I have, the Floormate Widepath ($149), I am not really impressed with, but like the idea behind it better than the swiffers, so I have kept it. It is similar to a Scooba mentioned earlier, only that you actually have to push it. I like that it is made to pick up small amounts of dirt, then you can scrup the floor, and vac it clean with a water rinse. I am not real impressed with it, because on my tile floors, the scrubbers do not have good contact with the floor, and you have to go over and over a spot to get it clean, and it doesnt really squeegee it dry like I thought it would, so it leaves streaks you have to go back and wipe up.
Let us know what you chose and how it works!
