What kind of riding do you do?
Western?
English?
If Western, get brown.
If English, get black.

That is what I would do.

I grew up riding.

Are you talking actual RIDING boots, or boots just for fashion wearing?

My vote is for black but almost all of my wardrobe goes w/black.

What color scheme does your wardrobe consist of?

That would be the deterining factor for me.

I wear more neutral tones and browns, so I would go with brown. But it all depends on your wardrobe, not mine :)

I would personally do brown because I dont wear much black. When I do wear black its more on the dressy side, so I would usually do a heel. But thats just me. :)

It would depend on the purpose. I would vote for brown.

I would go with the cognac brown color, very fashion forward the past few seasons. Of course, black is always a winner, but you can get black boots anywhere.

I wear black boots because most of my clothes go with black better than brown. If you wear jeans and casual wear then either would be okay. If you wear clothes to work and need to look more professional then I would choose black because they are easier to polish and to make look good all the time.

since you are only buying for fashion - purchase a pair that will go with the most outfits...

As black goes with MANY things...brown goes with a lot but, in my opinion, not MANY....

For me? It would be a toss - as I have just as much brown stuff as I do black stuff....I would lean towards brown as the clothes that I would wear boots with would be brown...and I already have a pair of black boots! :)

TOTALLY depends on your other clothes! What colors do you wear? What's your style? Preppy chic with multi colored clothes with blues, browns, army greens (even if you have black leggings or jeans, you need colors up top to pull of the brown) etc=Brown.

A bit of edge=Black (but not if all your pants are really light, you want darker browns and blues and blacks with the black boots). Also, if your thighs are on the beefy side, do brown. They amplify the calves and ankles more. The black ones will make your legs a little top heavy unless you're super slim.

Both are cute!

I do not do brown anything..so easy for me..Black.

Only greys and black themed things in my "wardrobe" if you can call it that...LOL.

Seems like a personal preference thing....

If you're riding in them... black is the most versatile and is what is usually required or the norm in most (but not all) competitions (polo or roping, for example, are nonblack sports... but roping one wears western style boots, so I'm thinking you're talking English?). The rule in English riding is ALWAYS have a black pair, get other colors later (unless you play polo, for example. But jumping, dressage, xcountry, racing, etc... it's nearly all black. Not all comps have rules about color, but you don't want judges looking at your boots, because you're the odd man out, you want them looking at you and your horse).

If you're just wearing them out and about... I would get brown.

I just bought a pair and went with brown, I felt the brown was a bit more casual like my wardrobe. I also don't wear a lot of black. It would be nice to have both colors but I won't be getting the black ones anytime soon. You can pair brown boots with black leggings or a black jacket however, it gives the equestrian look...google it for pictures of how it looks. I think it looks good. Goodluck!
