Ridiculous Question About Pasta Salads...but Here Goes

I found the coolest "hockey" shaped pasta at a local store. My son's team is going to play hockey at state this weekend, and we are having a potluck. I would love to find a tasty recipe for a kid friendly pasta salad I can bring....and not the usual (add Italian dressing). Anyone have a great pasta salad recipe they could contribute...along with a few good vibes for us to win ;)!

i would do maynaise mixed with a dry ranch dressing packet. toss in some bacon bits and the noodles. if you want a veggie in it, i'd do peas or carrot slices. its the most kid friendly pasta salad i've encountered. because i really can't stand the ones with italian dressing on them.

Good luck to you and the team!!

Ingredients:

Pesto
Skinless, Boneless Chicken
Mushrooms
Baby Spinach
Pasta
Parmesan

Saute mushrooms in olive oil or butter.

Grill chicken and cut into small, bite sized, strips

Cook pasta, drain and then throw onto and stir in with the spinach. The spinach will cook from the heat and steam of the pasta.

Mix in mushrooms, chicken, pesto and parmesan.

Eat.

This one is a fave around here. Never any leftovers. I have made it for potlucks, dinners, lunches, parties and two weddings. If you have picky members on the team you may want to skip the broccoli or make it half with half without. Hormel now makes mini sliced pepperoni that will be perfect for this recipe. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Antipasto-Salad/Detail.aspx

bake 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts using poultry seasoning
6 hard boiled eggs
pasta (I use 1 box of tricolor)
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
4-6 apples - cored and peeled if you don't like the peel
4 celery stalks
pint of cherry tomatoes
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

While chicken is baking I hard boil 6 eggs and the pasta and allow to cool. Then I chop all the veggies, apples, eggs, and chicken. Mix into pasta, add ranch dressing and combine. I add the cheese just prior to serving so it doesn't get soggy/mushy. I've also added fresh broccoli as well. Feeds an army and the ranch dressing keeps the apples and veggies from browning.

You can use ANY kind of salad dressing you want... with pasta salad.
I have even made it with bottled Oriental Dressing. REALLY good.
Or a creamy type salad dressing.
Or add bacon to it.
ANY kind of dressing can be used.
And put anything you want in it, any kind of veggie.
Anything goes, with pasta salad.

I like artichoke hearts in mine. Too. And some kind of cheese.

When you cook the pasta, you can divide it into two pots and put food coloring in the water that is your team colors. Don't pay attention to Grandma T... we all love the idea of the hockey shaped pasta for the hockey team. Making it fun is a great part of being a parent.
