I have a wonderful problem. The men from our church gave us TONS of diapers. We already have enough size two and now there is no way our little girl could use them all. I am wanting to return some. A few came in bags and I will try those stores first. But is there any way to know what came from where? How do I figure out what store to take them too? Not a single reciept either. I am truly greatful and blessed! Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Looks like Wal-Mart is my best chance. I am only looking to exchange them for larger sizes. I would never get the money back for myself. Or use the store credit for myself. The men's group go together and out of there own pocket wanted to give us diapers. The man that delivered them was a bit consirned that our baby was already so big. The intention was to help us out with diapers. So thats what I am going to do. With what ever diapers Wal-Mart wont take back I will donate to a womens shelter. When I give a gift I am wanting that person to be able to use it.

I agree with Holly B.

Instead of returning them, I'd recommend giving them to someone else who can use them - pay it forward.

Similac keeps sending formula and coupons even though our youngest just turned 2. It's a little different, but I pass all of them along to a coworker who has a child using formula to help with the cost.

I'd personally never consider taking Diapers back to the store. Just wouldn't cross my mind, but I would donate them to a day care, a church, a homeless shelter, a women's shelter.

Good luck.

When ever I had left over diapers I would take them down to the nearest domestic violence shelter. Diapers are one of the items they need most and get the least often since people often do not realize the need. Often it is a new baby to protect that gives many of these abused woman the courage and strength to finally say "enough".

I don't know about returning, but I do know about donating. There are lots of people that in today's economy are having trouble with the cost of a baby. Perhaps writing off the donation on your taxes is incentive enough to donate them to a local charity or orphanage. These poor kids didn't pick to be born into a time/situation where they can't even have clean diapers to keep them from getting sore bottoms. Just something to think about.

I had this problem when our son was born too, we got about 5 boxes of size 1, and he only wore them for a couple of weeks. I posted an ad on Craigslist to see if anyone wanted to trade diapers. I ended up trading a couple boxes with a lady, and it was perfect. We both got what we needed!

Hi Jackie. How lucky you are to have received the diapers from your church. Is there by any chance a womens shelter in your area that you can donate them? You can pass a gift on.

You were blessed to have such caring people to give you diapers, now it is your turn to donate to someone out there needing help or even donate it to a day care or church day care program. I don't think you should try to get some money out of it. It was a gift, and by donating it, God will bless you even more.

As long as the store carries the brand you have and it is an unbroken package, they will exchange them for a different size. Wal-mart is really good for this. If you received "store brand" diapers, you could probably google the name and find the store. How wonderful for you being buried in diapers, it is such an expense. Have a blessed day. cb

Try Wal-Mart. If they sell the brand, they'll take it back and give you a gift card.

I think I'd try to find other people to bless with the diapers rather than trying to return them to a store. But if they are of a specific brand, you might ask the store that sells that brand if you can trade sizes.

Just something to consider...you may want to ask about exchanging them or call ahead and check on return policies. Walmart allows only 3 returns without receipts per year - not sure if it is per person or per household. They actually ask for a form of ID to help track. So if you have 3 packs of diapers to return that will use up your allotment. Don't know if that is a concern for you. Also don't know if other stores have similar policies.

I never had a problem returning unopened packs of diapers at Target or Walmart. As long as they are unopened, most stores should accept them with no questions asked. Some may only give your store credit, some will give you cash and some will let you exchange for a different size in the same brand. But, I've never had a store turn me away. =0) And yes...you are right...it's a wonderful problem to have! =0)

The church gave them to you to help you. Why not give them to help others. I don't think that would be right to take them back to the store and keep the money. If you did return them then you should return the money back to the church. You could donate them to a woman's shelter or ask your own church, certainly they would know who needs them the most. Please don't return them and keep the money or exchange them for something for yourself. That is not what your church intended.

You should return them to the men of the church for another family to use, not to a store. They donated them to you, return the favor.

Walmart is really good at accepting returns for store credit as long as they stock the item being returned.

I would be grateful to be "covered" on this size (as you said you are) and pay it forward and donate them, return them to the men or give them to a friend. There are many people out there who can't afford diapers, so donating them is a great idea!!

That was super nice of them! You could politely explain that your daughter won't be able to use all of them. Explain that you'd like to exchange the ones in bags for the next size up, and would need the reciepts. That way your not turning away the gift, just getting more use out of them.

If they are Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, etc. I don't think there's a way to know what came from where. Here are a few store brands that I'm aware of:

Parent's Choice - Walmart
Up & Up - Target
Especially For Baby - Babies R Us (Toys R Us)

Good luck,
K.

You have great suggestions. Depending on your are you could also post the diapers on a :for Sale" sight. In Houston area we have several Bookoo sights (ie: Conroe Yard Sales, Rummage the Woodlands, etc.) We also have Woodlands Online, Conroe Classifieds. List them for sale and see if you get any takers. You won't get what the store would give you but you would have cash and not have the hassle of dealing with the stores.

Good luck!

Please donate them to a Battered Womens' Shelter or Homeless Shelter. Think about an abused mom with a baby showing up somewhere for help and only having time to grab her child and get out.
What a huge blessing you would be giving to her by providing those diapers.

You should be able to just return them to Wal Mart, as long as it's a brand they sell. They don't care, they stick it back on their shelf & sell it again!
