I got rid of all my teflon pots & pans and have cast iron and stainless steel now.
They are both super easy to clean. I like the heavy duty feel of them too. The best part is that they are safe to cook in, and if you buy quality they will last a lifetime. Most of my cast iron belonged to my grandmother, and a few small skillets belonged to my great-grandmother. They are well worth the price.

Hi A.---I am replacing teflon coated pans with cast iron. Yes, they are very heavy but there are health benefits associated with cooking in iron pans. It is the best and safest source of dietary iron! And, they are very easy to clean, only requiring hot water. You can also get the porcelain coated cast iron...I have some of both and they are wonderful.

I am also getting away from my alumininum based calphalon pans. Medically, alzheimers patients have higher than normal concentrations of that metal in their brains. Best to be safe, I think. Good luck...have fun shopping. D.

I use calphalon pans. I actually was just online the other day trying to research whether or not calphalon is like teflon. From what I found its no where near as bad but Im not sure thats true
If it is safer though, it works just as good as teflon
Good Luck

I have my Revereware from when we got married 22 years ago. It has the copper bottoms and it's great.
I have a few teflon coated frying pans, but want to replace them with calphalon or something like that.
YMMV

Hi A.,
I have both cast iron and stainless steel both work great. They cook at a lower heat saving energy and both clean up real easily. Hope this helps.
