looking at purchasing a refurbished Kitchen Aid Professional 6 qt capacity. its a great price at a local kitchen store. $120 less than new. comes with a 6 month warranty rather than a lifetime warranty.
Doesn't Kitchen Aid have a good reputation though? shouldn't it be a safe buy?
I would use it for making pasta and pierogi dough, and perhaps large amounts of mashed potatoes, and gingerbread. I do see that there is an ice cream attachment you can buy too...may do that.
Does anyone have one? Would you recommend I get this?

What can I do next?

Mine is 19 years old. I DEMANDED it as a shower gift from my six bridesmaids. :)

My mom has the ice cream attachment.

It makes AWESOME ice cream. FRESH ice cream tastes so much better!

I am assuming you are speaking of one of their stand mixers? Mine is 24 years old and still kicking, my husbands is 10 years old and sits on the shelf waiting for one of my kids to get married or if we live a really long life mine may kick it one day. My ex's grandma had one older than me, I think.

My point is they live forever so I would have no problem buying one refurbished.

By the way I love! making mashed potatoes in it!

I think it would probably be fine. I have one that was purchased new and LOVE, love, love it! But, as others have said, my mom has one that she has used very consistently for like 30 years so I'm sure a refurb would be fine. I might ask though what was done to it and why, just to open the door for potential questions and issues. I also have the ice cream attachment and it's really nice. I don't use it as often as I probably should, it's kinda bulky to put in my freezer, but it works really well. I use mine as much as possible. It's so quick and easy and making whipped cream is a dream!

I knoww!!! I love iiiittt!!, but my mom, my MIL and a friend have one too. Mom bought it new, and I purchased it refurbished online. I had to return mine once but the seller I bought it from was very prompt about returns and It really wasn't that much of a hassle other than the wait.
If you're buying a refurbished item make sure your seller is good with returns, and that they address any issues promptly. Having said that... How often can it happen. my advice go for it!!! you'll love it too!!!.
