A., Are you taking anything with Sulpha in it? That is the allergic reaction I had to sulpha. Sulpha can be a treatment for "pink eye" and in many topical ointments.

I think I know exactly what you are talking about. They are not raised but very tiny. I went to the dermatologist about the one on the bridge of my nose between my eyes. They are tiny blood vessels that break. He said many people have them all over their body. Unfortunately, it is an age thing as we get older. I am 39 and noticed my first one at 34/35. They will not go away. But he did say that laser treatment will erase them. Please do not mess with them like I did. They will bleed continually for 5 min. Good Luck!!!

No worries. They are called cherry popenoma; it's just a change in your skin...which is related to age. ;-( I've had them for years. Some of mine were above the skin and I got those lanced off just because they were right at my shorts leg line. The others just look like someone took a red pen and put dots on me! No biggie, they're not dangerous. Enjoy your new mommyhood!

My daughter gets those. however hers is bought on by nutmeg, pumpkin spice and cloves. Others I have seen start like that have then had trouble with exima. I would not use anything with a scent or alchohol in it.

I hope you find your answers.

If you are pregnant, and these are new, you should probably call your OBGYN's office just to be sure. Congratulations on your pregnancy! :)

A.,
Many of the responses to your problem are reacting as though this is common place. It is possible that it is nothing more than cosmetic or a rash. However, the red spots you are talking about could also be petechei, and can be related to a number of of ailments--namely ITP (ideopathic thrombocytopenic purpura), meningitis. It can be a sign of platelet loss, particularly if you have gotten a very dark bruise lately. Please go to a doctor ASAP, especially if you are pregnant. If your pregnancy was very unexpected, and you have a high risk OB, please call the office. If it is petechei, it could be much more serious than a rash.

DEAR Puppy Mommy, By now you have probably called the doctor, I expect your obstetrican as well as Medical MD. Dermatologist is always recommended, as well, in such instances. Hopefully, you have seen one, two or all three of them. If not, grab the phone and call them all, as a diagnostic measure so you know whether to be concerned about an underlying condition. That makes sense to you, yes? I was advised not to take any supplements or even over the counter meds without the MD seeing me for permission when I was expecting. Let us know what they say, if you will. Maddie P., RN,GBA-Certified Psych RN, former OB/GYN in-patient staff nurse and doula for friends and family as needed over the years.

Hi A.,
Some women develop spots during pregnancy which this may be. If so, there are some creams with cocoa butter that help fade them. Best to check with your gyn/ob first just to make sure it's not something else. Good luck and congrats!

The only time in my life that I had red spots like that they were confined to my face when I first noticed them . I was working for a vet at the time and we had been repainting the office with latex paint. It was at this time the red spots suddenly appeared. It was an allertgic reaction to the fumes of the paint but i would suggest going to the Dr. I was given a medication that made the spots go away within an hour.

They sound like some spots that I have as well. If they are the same, it is a toxic liver. I would suggest taking Milk Thistle to support your liver. I would also consult a naturapath, I use Dr. Lord...###-###-####.

Hello A.,

I have developed those red spots late in my first Pregnancy. They look like a rash but don't do anything than look aweful. I had them all over my belly and my ob/gyn had no clue what it is. So he called a Dermatologist and he had no clue either. At the end i endet up with Cortisone cream wich i didn't used because it does more damage in the long run than it helps. In my case i found out on the web that this is a very common symptom in pregnant women that goes along with a tonsilitis wich i had every 6 weeks in those days. I just can't think of the name for this anymore but try this link.

I have them too. They are tiny blood vessels like Kala said. I had some of mine lasered off at the dermatologist too. I had some really big ones on my chest and thighs that were just gross. Some were a little bigger some are tiny little dots. Don't pick them... They are something we just have to live with I guess unless you want to pay to have them removed.

I am not pregnant (although I probably still have hormones in my body from having given birth 2 months ago!).
I had red spots appear on my back in the last couple of weeks and I went to the dermatologist. She indicated it was as a result of sensitive skin and extreme dryness.
I was also thinking it was an allergic reaction to something which she said could play a role in causing it. She put me on a sensitive skin program wear I basically stop using fragrenced laundry items and only unscented sensitive skin soaps. Plus I am supposed to use Cetaphil to moisturize my skin.
I did have a reduction in the bumps with taking Benedryl and even though it was itchy in a couple of small places, I did start to feel better with following her recommendations.
I agree you should at least have the OB/GYN have a look also because you want to make sure you are treating it appropriately while pregnant.
Good luck!!

With being pregnant I wouldn't listen to anyones advice and see my doctor. A lot of medications can harm the unborn baby.
Sounds like it may possibly be heat rash. But like I said, don't take any chances and see your doctor about it.

Since you are pregnant I would call your OB office just to make sure it isn't a sign of something. I have heard of other pregnant women getting the spots your are describing, but I can't remember why or what it is. Congrats on the pregnancy! Motherhood is a wonderful thing!

I totally agree with the prvs post. Don't mess with rashes and preg. I have worked in dermatology along time and rashes and preg can be of concern. You should see your OB-GYN.

I developed red spots during my first pregnancy, and I seemed to get one or more with the other two pregnancies as well, as well as a few more over the years not being pregnant! I went to a dermatologist when I first noticed and she said they were nothing to worry about. It looks like someone made a red dot using a very red magic marker -- like a pin drop. Maybe slightly raised. I have a handful all over. All in spots covered (usually!). My son had petechia at birth (and every now and then when he gets a virus) but they look totally different. I'm sure you could go on a website and look up a pic of petechia to make sure that's not what they are. But definitely mention to your ob/gyn or dermatologist just to be safe.

I had something like that last year. My husband did not want to come near me. It lasted for almost two months.I think it was before I had my son, I can't remember. Anyhow, I went to the doctor and they did a biopsy and I was fine.I just put some benadryl cream on them and they eventually went away finally. The doctor told me it was some type of rosacia. I checked it out on the internet and it is very common in some people. I have never had an episode since.
Good Luck. And congrats on being a new mom. It is wonderful!
