Does anyone know of a company that will come to my house and pick up glass baby food jars? I have twins and we go through 10 glass baby food jars A DAY! I hate throwing them away and was wondering if there is a recycling company that will come to my house and pick them up.

What can I do next?

Hey J.,
It's K.! I think the trash company in your area should offer it but I am not sure. We are in Olathe & have our recycling products picked up on the same day as our trash- two different trucks. We do pay $2 for the service but knowing it is helping the earth I don't mind! Plus there is so much you can recycle: glass, cans and plastic. They also provide us with a container!

Also, there is a wonderful web based group called freecycle. You can post any unwanted item that you have, but that you'd rather not throw away and people will come and pick them up for you. Freecycle.org will get you to a list of groups in your area.

Baby food jars are often used by schools for crafts and such. You might check with some local schools and see if they want them.

I don't know of a place that picks them up but I know many schools will accept them. The art teacher at our school uses them and the PTO for the school carnival. Just a suggestion.

Hi, J. -

Although this isn't home pick up, you can take them to a recycling center yourself. I'm not sure where you are, but in Overland Park, there is a city recycling center on 119th a bit west of Metcalf behind the fire station.

I have twins, too! Congratulations on yours. They are so much fun. I miss mine being babies. They are now rambunctious 3 year olds.
