It could be allergies - sometimes post nasal drip gets into the tummy and causes upset.

It could be that he has a virus.

It could be that he wants some attention and because he has a sick sister, he knows that illness will get him some attention.

It could be that he's not handling everything that is going on in his life and he's stressed.

It could be that he's worried about going back to school and he doesn't know how to express himself. he may think that his issues aren't as big as the issues others are facing in his family, so he's pushing it down... which is causing a physical manifestation.

What do YOU think is the problem?

Have the doc ultra sound his abdomen. He could have a semi blockage in his colon/intestines. He could have some ulcers, a kink, diverticulitis, all sorts of stuff can go on deep inside.

It's always better to have a doc look. It's summer time and our kids always get a bit constipated or they don't get it all out. I think it's because they sweat so much they just don't get enough water.

Does he have something stressful coming up at school? A presentation or test? That might be one culprit.

I'd be watching him carefully. Have you had him touch his body where the pain is? The reason I ask is that occasionally kids that age can get kidney stones and the pain which comes with it can be pretty harrowing and can even cause vomiting. So, if you see his pain is more to one side or the other instead of in his stomach/gut area, consider going to see his doctor right away.

Sorry I don't have any more to offer. See a doctor if the pain is persistent and keeps coming on.

Tummy hurting plus fever sounds like stomach virus to me. Probably time to do the BRAT diet, plus lots of liquids, for at least 24 hours.
