I have seen used ones @ consignment stores. I like Kids and Kribz in fort Lauderdale. You should try there!! That way, you are not spending too much on a new one!!
Dear Moms,
My son turned 3 last week and the next day our video monitor stopped working. At first I thought I could live without it, but I've realized how much I used it to monitor him or him and friends when they play in his room upstairs. So, I'm faced with buying a new one on a limited budget. We had the Safety First monitor, a black and white one, that they no longer make. I was perfectly happy with it, don't need any bells or whistles, but need to be able to afford it!
So, if you have any advice, I would appreciate it!
Thanks! C.

Hi C...I hear you! I could never live with just a standard monitor. We have the summer infant handheld video monitor. It is pricey..but I really like it. The company is great too. I had an issue, and they sent me a new, free adapter to fix the problem. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2265802 I love that the monitor is handheld..I can take it outside..wherever. I know you said not too pricey..so I looked on ebay, and they have a ton for sale. It looks like you could easily get one for 1/2 price. Good Luck!!!

Check if ebay or amazon has it, you may get it affordable and brand new.
If you don't mind if it is not brand new, I would check Craigslist or Once Upon A Child to find your old favorite!
Try looking for a used one - Craigslist or EBay are good places to search. If you've got a computer with a simple webcam properly positioned that could serve as a baby monitor too.
C.,
Interesting to hear that you still use it at 3. I am positive I will be the same way.
We have the Summer Infant Day & Night Monitor & are really happy with it. It's $99. My son is only 17 mos, so hopefully, it will last a while.
Here is a link to it:

Go on Freecycle!!! Go to Yahoo.com, "Groups", and depending where you live either Wellington Freecycle or West Palm Beach Freecycle.................EVERYTHING on the site is totally free and all you have to do is go to the persons home to pick up!!!!! I LIVE on this website...basically it's people giving away their stuff instead of selling it...........People "offer" stuff and you can post "wanted" stuff also! GOOD LUCK!
Never used one. I just left the doors open, actually, had the kids and any "guests" play outside of the kitchen where I cooked and did bookkeeping, so I could be present.
However, if you choose to get another monitor (and we are all on a budget these days...) check E-Bay, local consignment shops, if you are west Palm Beach Faith Farms has lots of household items...
Blessings, S.
Freecycle is great!!! Also try Craigs list and maybe even ebay???
CRAIGSLIST!!!! Just check a couple times a day, and post a wanted message.
