Recommendations on Getting Rid of Baby and Toddler Toys

I am looking for some recommendations on where we can get rid of our son's baby and toddler toys that he no longer plays with. I thought about craigslist but that may be too time consuming unless we list a group of toys one price instead of listing everything individually. Our other thought was to donate them to some sort of organization or group, however I am not sure who accepts donated toys. Does anyone know in the Lehigh Valley area who accepts Donated toys? I would love to donate them somewhere that would be of great use? Any suggestions or other ideas would be great?

What can I do next?

Hi K.,

Donations will be accepted at VIA and the Salvation Army and any women's shelters.

It can also be a tax deduction.

Good luck. D.

There is a place that accepts donated baby items called Cradels to Crayons. You can check out there website. I donated all my kids items once I decided I was done and got a tax deductable receipt.

Hi K.. Not sure if this is too far away for you but there is a consignment shop in Souderton Pa called the Care and Share. They accept children's toys and clothing and the proceeds go to various charities. Here is a link: www.soudertoncareandshare.com
Good Luck!

You could take them to the Salvation Army in Quakertown or the Goodwill in also in Quakertown which would be closer for you. I always donate my childrens stuff to Salvation army...they do appreciate donations! Care and Share is an awesome place to shop and donate in Souderton!

I can think of many organizations you can check out.
Turning Point, Early Head Start, Salvation Army, Sixth St. Shelter,Lehigh and Northampton County Early Intervention Program, some Food Banks also have toys that they disburse to children, church daycares/preschools, Foster care agencies, Children and Youth services, etc. You will have to call because sometimes they have too many and are not in need at a particular time but when they are getting low they welcome more to replenish their supply.

I know most won't take anything that is of a fabric material that can't be sanitized or if pieces are missing or broken.

I would either take the whole lot to a consignment shop (Rock a Bye Baby or Kiddie Korner) or to somewhere like Mosser Family Center that really can use donations like these for the kids. When we take donations there (books, etc), they swarm us and you should see their smiling faces.

There is also freecycle... it's a yahoo group that keeps stuff out of the landfills and in use with people who actually want the stuff. Google "freecycle lehigh valley" and become a member (free)to post stuff you don't want and see other member's postings and maybe get something that you want for free too. Good luck. Mosser's website page is below.

I would agree with the last poster. I would donate it to a place that can use it. You should call just to see if they need anything. You can call shelters, churches, early intervention, head start, Kidspeace, etc. Those will all go DIRECTLY to children. I really am not as fond of places like Goodwill and Salvation Army. I like to know that they are being used by people in real need.
