I am like every other mom out there tryn to save a buck! I hear there is an easy inexpensive way to make baby wipes.. with paper towels (the ones with the "pick the size you need") and baby soap... any one out there hear of this and can help??

It's what we used when kiddo was a baby. He was allergic to regular wipes. They worked great. There's no need for soap. I mean, *I* don't wash myself with soap every time I pee. :) :) :)
I was raised and was of child bearing age when there were no commercial wipes. Wash cloths or squares of soft flannedl dampened with water and if needed a bit of soap was all that we used. They worked just fine.
Fold the cloth in fourths, wipe across a bar of soap, wipe baby, turn cloth over and wipe off soap. Worked just fine except for babies with really sensitive bottoms. We did have more diaper rash back then. Diaper rash meant change baby more often, apply diaper rash cream/ointment to act as a barrier between skin and urine/poop.
Commercial wipes are great for some babies with really sensitive bottoms and for moms/dads who can afford them. Otherwise just a soft cloth, water and soap work just fine.
I got this recipe out of the Duggars book (18 and Counting.)
Cut a roll of BOUNTY paper towels in half. (She says this is the only kind that they found that works well.
Place half roll in a container that has a cover (ice cream pail, etc.).
Mix 2 cups cold water, 2 Tablespoons Baby Oil, and 1 Tablespoon Rubbing alcohol together. DUMP OVER HALF ROLL OF TOWELS. Make sure to keep "wet ones" covered when not in use so they don't dry out.
Let soak for 20 minutes then pull out the cardboard tube.! And you're done!
We used this recipe for a good 6 to 9 months with our last. Now he's potty trained but I'm 20 weeks pregnant and planning on using it again with the new baby! They work great! And have saved lots of money!
The best paper towels to use are the bounty. They hold us the best. Cut the toll in half, and remove the cardboard tube. Place in a container that will hold them. I heat the water on the stove, and add just a few drops of baby oil. I cool the water then and add to the paper towels. I use about a cup or two of water, an split between the two containers.
Once you do it a time or two, you will notice how much water you need, as you want the towels to soak it up and not have water sitting in the bottom, of the container.
you can also make your own cloth wipes out of just about anything. Old socks, t-shirts, mens boxers, etc. I make the solution the same way, and just add into a spray bottle. I keep both by the changing table, since sometimes my daughter wants to poop just as she lays down and doesn't say anything, so it's a bit stuck on by the time nap is over, and the extra spray works great.
you can always add as much or little baby oil to the water, or if you have another scent you like, you could add a drop or two of that.

I used old tee shirts and cut them up. Kept them in a small crock pot (yes, I cleaned it a lot!) and put just a sqirt of baby lotion in it so that it smelled nice. Since I used cloth diapers, they went right in the pail!
I have a neigbor who did the paper towels. She changed to the same mixture, they really don't need the soap, and would cut the whole tube in half, I think they used an electric knife. Then, they put the whole thing in a large tupperware container, and would drain off the extra mixture so that the wipes were just moist enough. It worked well!

Just use cloth wipes! If you are handy you can make your own. I purchased mine and love them. They are soft on one side and a terry material on the other. I also use a concentrate (purchased from a cloth diaper store) that I mix with witch hazel for the solution that I spray on the wipes. Love my cloth wipes! I typically use one cloth wipe where I would use 3 or 4 paper wipes to get baby clean. Just toss them in a bin with a lid and wash every couple of days. The wipes last forever. That's real savings!
Grab a spray bottle, fill with water and a few drops of baby bath wash, shake, spray and wipe. Simple as that! Are you using cloth diapers? You can save even more money by using cloth wipes. You can make them for free if you have any old clothes that are ready to be recycled.
Cloth wipes will you save you even more money. You can use the terry cloth baby wash cloths from Target or Wal Mart. I keep mine dry with my diapers and wet them in the sink with water when I need to use them. Works wonderfully.
