has anyone had the experience of what seems to be a woodpecker pecking on your home? and, if so -- what are, if any, the remedies? thanks.

What can I do next?

Try getting a cut out of an owl and put it near where it is pecking. I have heard that scares them. Good luck!

Hi! I've had the same problem since I moved into my house. I've tried the owl and it did not work. I just go and bang the rain gutter to scare it away. Hopefully, someone else has a remedy. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

Hello
We had the same problem in our new house with a woodpecker eating away at our house. I went to Ace Hardware and purchased a "woodpecker balloon", I had my doubts but it really works and there is no harm done to the woodpeckers. It is a balloon that is yellow and red and has a silver eye. We hung it on a tree near where he was pecking and he has not returned. We have been woodpecker free since. Best of luck.

You can spray them with a garden hose to make it uncomfortable. My mom had a great exterminator who was able to help her, and that was his first suggestion. We no longer had the woodpecker. If you want, I could get his name and number. I'm not sure how to spell his last name to look it up, but he's a good family friend, so I could find it easily.
