I've been wondering how things went and am so happy to hear the wonderful news. I knew you'd get custody, but it's still scarey when it's still an unknown. Congratulations on getting custody of you kids.

I guess my update got pulled earlier... I know several mothers asked me to keep them posted, and since my origional question was quite a while ago it's easier on everyone for me to update this way...
anyhow...
A few of you may remember a few weeks ago I posted about my BIL's sister trying to take my nieces and nephew that I have been taking care of for the last 3 years. She declined custody when given the opportunity when my sister and her husband passed, so I took the 4 kids. She decided she wanted the kids when we found out about a large inheritance left to them, and started court proceedings to get them from me. We went to court a couple days ago. We let our lawyers battle it out for the first day and a half, and on the second day we spoke to the judge. The judge was pretty much ready to give me custody, obviously on my 'side' after hearing the whole story... My BIL's sister, in what I can only guess was a last resort effort to get her hands on some of the money, was to tell the judge that she thought she should get at least half of the kids (as in, split them up so they live in different states.) The judge pretty much laughed in her face, and right then and there closed the case and awarded me full permanant custody. :) Yay!
So my question, to keep this within MP guidelines... is this: Do you think the judge gave me a fair hearing? ;)

I'm so glad you still have the kids. Did your BIL and his gold digging wife pay for all the legal fees, yours and theirs? If so, they were taught a good lesson.

Yes! Congratulations! So nice to hear a happy ending for all of you :)
Nicely done.
Yes, I think he did, but I bet your BIL's sister doesn't agree.. lol.
I guess you really don't have a question as the one you asked makes no sense......
But, congrats to you!!!! What an awesome thing you did by taking 4 kids to insure they were well taken care of - you will have good karma come your way :) There needs to be more people like you in the world!
There is hope in the judicial system!!! I am happy that you were able to keep your niece and nephew in your family. It just goes to show what people will do for money and how they had planned to spend it.
Congratulations.
The other S.
Oh praise God!!
I was telling my husband about your first post...and he was so mad. He wanted to hunt up your BIL's sister and give her a "good talking to".
I am so happy for your family!! Thank you so much for the update. I was wondering how it would all turn out.
Yes, the judge did a great job!!
I remember your question! YES YES YES! Very fair and I am so happy for these children and you! This stayed with me and I told my husband we needed to make sure our daughter is protected incase we are gone. Not that we would have anyone fighting over money....but I have definite ideas of who I want (and don't want) to care for her if we aren't here.
Can we all send the judge a thank you note? And can I btch slap the SIL? Thanks!
Absolutely, how can you think it might not have been fair? Isn't that what you wanted??? Thank goodness for those children. Take care of them and use what money necessary but save most for them and their future. Poor babies.
SO SO SO SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU ALL!!!! Hope you never have to see that money grabber again!! :-)
