Personally, I would ask to be referred to a pediatric dermatologist so they can see what's going on. If you have Kaiser, I just took my daughter to see Dr. McGuinness at Vallejo. She was wonderful. Very concerned and attentive. My daughter has toe fungus and the regular ped. knew this but felt better if an actual derm. saw it and took over the treatments. Good luck.

I Love a product called SebaMed. It changes the Ph of skin back to 5.5. It was the only thing that helped my son when he had diaper rash. It is now the only cream we use on him. You have to buy it on the internet though but it's so worth it. Good luck.

My kids never had diaper rash, and I'm convinced it was because I never used any of the creams or oils, I only bathed them once or twice a week, and I let them run around without diapers as frequently as possible.

The usual three cremes are anti-fungal, cortisone, and antibiotic. I usually try each one until one works. If one is going to work, you will usually know within two or three days. If you used anti-fungal (? can't remember which) for yeast, stop that and try cortisone. If you use cortisone when you need anti-fungal, or vice-versa, it will have the effect of making it worse.

Tea tree oil or Borax paste (3 pts borax, 1 pt coconut oil)both are antifungal and antibacterial. Since the skin is a detox organ, internally you can help her by giving oregano oil drops, 2 drops, 2 times a day, under her tounge. (we take them, I call them pizza drops). Oregano is very antibacterial/antifungal. You should try to reduce the milk intake as well.

I have read that exzema problems can be caused by internal roundworms. Vit B complex deficiency can cause exzema type rashes. Vit A is useful for skin conditions.

Although it is probably not the issue: a rash that is clearing in the center and takes on a red appearance around the edges could be Lyme disease, a bacterial rash caused by a tic or flea bite. Tics like to crawl to the highest place on a person before they are stopped (usually in a groin area or an armpit.)They can be picked up on tall grasses and weeds, even in populated areas. Dogs pick up tics from parks and back yards all the time. Get yourself familiar with the symptoms from a websearch. Again I do not think that is it, but you should remain well informed on all possibilites.

sounds like a reaction to something. Definatley not diaper rash. Has she started new foods etc. Anything new introduced around the time the rash appeared. Look at other things, new laundry detergent, new carpet, new or change in anything. Just keep looking for clues. I would also research rashes on the web and see if any look like your daughters' and bring that to the Dr. Sometimes, Dr.s need some help. also, get a 2nd opinions with another Dr. Wouldn't hurt.

If it is a yeast infection, the best thing I found was gentin violet. It is an old remedy and hard to find. You may have to ask the pharmasist. I used it on my daughters. They and their friends use it on their children. It will stain her skin and anything else it touches purple. Her bottom will look brused for about a week warn others who diaper her. My son had yeast a lot. He still gets it on his genitals if he gets sweaty or has a little accident he doesn't tell me about.
I made my own cream from a mix of stuff:
I added to a glob of Vaseline - anti-fungal cream, A&D Gold ointment and a little zinc oxide based stuff - like Desitin.
I smeared it on with every diaper change and made the sitter use it too. I I picked him up and I couldn't smell the A&D she got yelled at.
Also try Aveeno Baby oatmeal bath to soothe the skin.
make sure she's wearing 100% cotton and maybe stop using fabric softener or scented detergent on her clothes.

Try hydrocortisone cram 1%. That should take care of the rash quickly then continue with the yeast infection cream as well.

It is good to bathe your child with the "gold bar" and then make sure she is completely dry before you apply "renew skin therapy". This lotion put a barrier between the diaper and skin while still letting the skin breathe. These products are fantastic. If you want to know where to get these let me know. ____@____.com

My daughter was extremely rash prone when she was in diapers...one after another, after another..... Just when I thought she was healing it would flare up again and sometimes get so bad that the bumps would bleed. We went to the doctor, researched on line, tried prescription creams, and every non prescription cream, powder, and ointment we could find. The only thing that seemed to help (but didn't solve the problem) was the Aveeno oatmeal bath. I adjusted her diet looking for possible allergens and NOTHING worked! But that turned out to be the key - NOTHING! I gave up. I decided that all of the attention might just be the problem. It was hard for me to do while looking at the nasty rash, but I just stopped putting anything on her. I kept her clean with water and soft towel, let her dry, put her diapers on, and low and behold, the rash cleared up and the pain went away, and she has been rash free ever since. Once it was completely gone I found that I could use wipes again and she hasn't had any problem with lotions or soaps or anything since then.

Try a cortisone cream 1% and give it a few days to see if it helps. It could be a sensitivity to a certain food for example my daughter got a severe rash that would not go away and we finally figured out it was the watermelon she was eating. We cut back on that and also used Triple Paste Medicated cream (bought it at Target) and used that with every change for 3-4 days. When she had a yeast infection we also used that on top of her yeast cream that dr. gave us. If your daughter is really uncomfartable with the itching try benadryl, my daughter is 21 mo. and 25 lbs. and I give her 1 tsp. I have also given her tylenol when she is real uncomfortable with the rashes. Good luck.

sorry for the late reply. diaper rash is a form of yeast. your daughter most likely has yeast overgrowth in her intestines and needs to do some sort of cleanse and a healthy round of probiotics. if you want guidance doing this, visit a homeopathic or holistic doctor (i have a great suggestion for one in north berkeley). you can research yeast overgrowth (Candida) on-line. look for information on the GAP Syndrome and poke around on the Wise Traditions on-line journal for more information. diaper rash is not something that can be solved with a cream, it needs to be corrected internally. and if you haven't started already, get started on the potty training to get her out of those diapers and put her in cloth training underpants. a good starting point for training pants is the EC Store on-line.

Ask your Dr. to refer you to a specialist. My son had the same problem. The pediatrician also told me yeast...and was wrong. The steroid creme that he prescribed actually made it worse. Nothing helped...Oatmeal baths everyday, every different cream possible, cloth diapers, etc. In the end, it was something in his diet, mixed with sensitive skin. I ended up taking him to an allergist, and switching his diet a bit and he gave me some non-steroidal cream. Hope this helps.

Hi! You may want to consider an underlying food allergy/sensitivity. Try taking her off diary, wheat and egg for 2 weeks. If there is an improvement, try reintroducing one item at a time 1 week apart to identify the specific allergy. Diary, wheat and egg are the most common food allergy items, but there may be other foods, so you may have to play detective for a while. Good luck!

Does she drink a lot of applejuice. I know someone that their daughter became sensitive to apple juice and apple sauce and the acidity in the juice gave her a bad rash.

Try using some plain coconut oil (found in the cooking oils). It's antimicrobial and does a wonderful job of moisturizing. It may just be that all the rash cream (which tends to be drying) has your girlie's skin irritated. Coconut oil is solid in the jar, but it will melt in your hand to put on you baby.

My 17 mos old son has a rash problem as well. He was born with severe eczema. I tried everything his pediatrician recommended. Didn't really work. Then a girlfriend of mine told me a emu oil. I ordered that from a local vendor in Napa Valley, put it on him everyday and it works. All natural ingredients. No steroid hormones like hydrocrotizone cream.

Also try using cetaphil cream in a tub and wash when bathing. Anything that does not have fragrance to it.

Are you giving her bubble baths? This is a major cause of yeast infections. That could be why it does not clear up and keeps reocurring.

I had a similar experience with my 22 month old when she was around 18 months old. We use a blow dryer at every diaper change to make sure she is totally dry. We also started giving her a probiotic. If it is fungal, it could be a sign of internal overgrowth. Reducing sugar in the diet is also helpful. We also stopped giving her a daily bath and now do every other day and we switched to "California Baby" body wash for sensitive skin. We also oil her skin after the bath. We did also start using the Triple Paste cream when it was really bad and now that she has improved (although she still has sensitive skin) we use Weleda calendula cream. I hope this helps.

I would give her probiotics. Yeast is always a sign of disproportionate good bacteria in the gut. The cream is a nice idea but it doesn't solve the real problem.
You can find probiotics for kids at a health food store.

My daughter had a similar type rash...it started as a yeast infection, we treated it with prescription cream medicine and it would go away and keep coming back. Then it traveled to her tummy and legs. It looked like big pimples with a whitehead and redness around the bumps. If this sounds similar, it could be a bacteria infection. After 2 months of going back to the dr. he finally prescribed an antibiotic cream and it got rid of it for good. Hope this helps. Good luck!

my daughter just got over a mad diaper rash and we ended up finding this cream at walmart called triple paste. it was our last resort after using desitn, butt paste, all sorts of stuff and that helped. good luck

Sounds like excema to me. We've had that problem. It usually resides in the crevices btwn the the arms and legs like that primarily. Cortizone is only a temporary help. It might be diet related. Probiotics have helped us some. Also, be sure it's not her soap or anything, and try bathing her w/ some epsom salts perhaps. or oatmeal bath if baby isn't allergic.

Have you had her tested for food allergies? Sounds familiar to what my niece went through. One in particular could be gluten, found in pasta,or any wheat products?

I also had this with my son, and the rash occurred when he was out playing in the grass. (I assumed it was fertilizer that the gardener added) And once he showered, it was gone.

Just keep track of when the rash occurs and perhaps start a food diary?
