Raging Case of Spring Fever! How About You?

Is it my imagination, or does warm, sunny, beautiful weather = cranky, restless kiddos? Seems like spring fever hits hard in our house. My 7-y.o. wants to spend less time outside rather than more, no matter how much we drag him out for hikes, playing in the yard, meeting friends at the playground...just wants to curl up with a book, or build with Legos, or sprawl out and not do much of anything. We've also had an uptick in whining, arguing, sassing and general negativity. Add to that the fact that he is totally spacing out, not listening and not paying attention, and it's a roller coaster around our house!

Who's with me? Anyone else's kids in the very worst stage of spring fever?

What can I do next?

Funny how in September and the ENTIRE school year is stretched out in front of them and they're ok with that.

But get down to the last 6 weeks or so and they JUST CAN'T STAND ONE MORE DAY OF IT! Ugh!

Everyone is out in the NE. The temp is above 35. We are ready to rock and roll and BBQ. Kids out enjoying the daylight and finally warm weather.
It was actually 64 degrees here today. Hooray. Maybe your son is getting sick? Kids are usually chomping at the bit to get outside. Does he go out in the summertime?

Oh heck no, not around here. After months of being cooped up in the house, we Yankees are craving the outdoors. We've been having a blast outside the past several days that it has been above 40'.

Its burn out. Their little brains have had enough of learning, remembering, figuring, moving at school and at home. Even the best of students - the smart ones and the most obedient - burn out near the end of the year and their bank of interest and patience of being told to do things runs empty.

I thought spring fever was when it was almost warm out but not quite warm out and you want to hang outside but you get cold??

We have that here. It's still pretty cold everyday (high 30s low 50s) but we know the warm weather is coming and we really want to go outside and feel warm sun on our face but we are not quite there yet :(

Looks like you guys will have a nice long summer. Your kids sound like they are ready for school to be out.

Well, the high here today was 21F, the low was -1F. The snow is still about three feet deep in my back yard, but now it is wet snow. The streets are wet and dirty. Spring is my least favourite season. It is too cold to switch out the snow pants and snow boots for slush pants and rubber boots, but the winter stuff comes home soaked. My husband had to shovel the snow off the roof because it was melting into my kitchen. I need to get out and shovel some of that snow away from the foundation of my house so it doesn't end up as water in my basement. Forget the kids, I am in the worst stage of spring fever!!!
