3 Nights...I swear by this for everything. Bottles, sleeping in their own beds, no blankie, whatever. It will only take 3 nights without it for the child to change their connection to that behavior. For the parent, the nights are long but it works! For my kids, the bottle was done at 1. We put them away in a box and there was no more. Gone. Or you could do the bottle fairy. Tell them a bottle fairy picks up the bottles to give to new babies who need them. Just some thoughts.

HI,

We didn't have a bottle except a few feedngs with daddy, but i would suggest what we did with the binki- have her throw them away and tell her she is big girl and dosen't need them anymore. It was hard for the first week or so (the first days being the worst) and after 2 weeks he completley forgot about them. I would suggest following your normal bedtime routine to a T to make the transistion easier.

I also use to be a dental assistant, and uforntatley you see first hand what putting baby down to bed with a bottle does to there teeth- it can cause decay and ortho problems too

Hope this Helps :)

You are going to just have to bite the bullet....prepare yourself to listen to some crying and fussing and take that bottle away!!! There really is no painless way to do it. I like the idea of the "bottle fairy" that one of the other Mamas suggested...that way you aren't the "bad guy" in her eye. You may want to keep a close eye on her teeth, my youngest was the only one of our three children who ever went to sleep with a bottle and she ended up with "bottle teeth" from them being exposed to the juice all night long, her front baby teeth were full of decay!!!
Good luck

how about cutting the slit bigger, and letting her have a drink BEFORE bed, then taking it from her right before she falls asleep? then it's more like a sippie cup, she can drink it a bit faster, then you can take it quickly. it's not good for her to sleep with a drink, and you're right to want to help her get past it. good luck!

Let her keep it since she has for security. If this was a stuffed animal or blanket no one would even blink. Sometimes we get in a hurry to get our kids to grow to fast and make our life and theirs harder. Let her enjoy this G.

If she's not drinking from it and only sleeping with it then how about taking her to Walmart and letting her pick out a new baby doll that comes with a baby bottle and tell her she'll have to trade in her own bottle for the doll/bottle. Then she has a little one plus a new doll too.

When my children need to get rid of the bottle we wrapped all of them up and gave the gift to a new baby. If you do not have a friend who could use the bottles give to a charity.
The children got a new comfort item.
Good luck.

ok, so everybody is different, but what i did with both of my girls was take the bottle away when they turned one. cold turkey. and they LOVED their bottle! it took a few days of adjustment, but like all else, it will pass. but, if she's not actually drinking from it, there can't be much harm! or is she drinking from it at night?

Good Morning L., You said she doesn't drink from it, is she using it like a binki or paci? Just holding it etc?
I am only assuming she isn't sucking on it, if she were her tummy would be full of air and that would be very uncomfy for her.

If that is all she is doing, let her. It's like having a favorite baby doll or blanket.Something familiar she likes.
If she wants to take it for Show N Tell, in Kindergarten well then it's a problem...lol

When we go some place now, I make Corbin 4 & Zane 2 leave any toy or Baby ( little critter with a small blanket attached at the head) in the car. They can have them when we get in the car again. This keeps me from having to pick them up with Zane throws them or drops them for fun. Zane went 3 hours last night at a Surprise party for my dad with out his Baby. Did just fine.

I think ( anyway-It's early still lol )
As long as she is only carry it in the house, not using it as a paci or to drink from allow her to. She will get rid of it on her own. Grab one of her baby dolls and let her use the bottle to feed her baby doll.

God Bless you and your little Princess
