Hi moms,

Setting up a party food delivery for my work. If you ordered $320 worth of food ($350 w/ tax) what would you tip? The location of the restaurant in relationship to the delivery location is literally 3-5 minutes away. Thanks!

ETA: they bring food in, but no set up is done.

What can I do next?

I would probably do 10 % considering it's not a crazy delivery unless you asked for a lot of favors-like food separation or labeling above and beyond what they would normally do. so that is $35.

$50 is not out of line either- just more generous than I would probably be.

It depends on the person(s) who deliver the food...if they are courteous and helpful upon delivery then 10% is perfect...if they simply drop off the food w/o so much as a, 'howdy-dee-do' you aren't required to do any tipping...if the owner of the establishment delivers then you CERTAINLY DO NOT tip...

FYI...I am a licensed F & B Manager in three states...I have done my own caterings for weddings several times, as well as private parties...I hope you have a wonderful event!

I tip a minimum of 20% of the bill, whether I dine at a restaurant, pick up take-out, or have it delivered.

I have to do tons of lunches at physician offices and I would probably tip $50. I hate loading it in the car and bringing in the building, set up is fine.

I would say 15-20% is a good tip for what you're describing.

What are you getting!? I'm hungry! =)

If I paid a delivery fee, I would probably tip 10-15%. If there was not a fee then 20%.

If they deliver on-time and the food is right? 15% if they actually go above and beyond? 20%.

Enjoy!! Bon Apetite!!

For Delivery I pay based on the timeliness of the delivery and the delivery person's demeanor. IF they are sloppy, have the food all messy and obviously do not care I tip less, if they are groomed (not some super metro look, just clean) and polite, get my food delivered on time and hot or cold - depending I will tip more. I am not sure exactly what they are delivering, but seeing the price tag it's quantity and probably going to be hot - I would budget 50-40 for the tip personally. That would put you between the 12-15% tip rate on the delivery.
