Questions About Having Period After Breastfeeding

Ok-I stopped breastfeeding I believe back at the end of May. I have never been regular with my period and figured it might take awhile to come back. So the last week and a half or so I thought I was pregnant...smelling stuff, gums bleeding, sick feeling, etc-all my pregnancy signs. I took a test and it came back neg. which is good for now since youngest is still under a year :). So anyways, this morning I noticed it looked like I was starting so I'm wearing a pad and all but now there still isn't much flow going. Is it normal for the first period to be not like normal? Could I still possibly be pregnant? I have seriously thought I was with all the pregnancy signs but then I don't know how much was 'thought up' since I thought I was pregnant you know.

What can I do next?

My periods are really irregular too. I wouldn't worry too much, but if you aren't wanting to get pregnant right now I would make sure that you are taking the proper precautions! I was worried too for the first seven months, but now I have accepted that my period is just a mystery! Some months it is light, others heavy and sometimes nonexistent! Give it a couple of days and if you still feel like you might be pregnant and you are worried get a blood test.

The same thing happened to me. It took 2-3 months to start, and when it did, it was a trickle. The next month I felt like my body was getting it's revenge for what I had put it through. The next on was pretty much back to normal. Don't worry too much. Your body will tell you if there is a problems and you will be "back to you" in no time.

after having kids my periods have changed, they are irregular & a lot less flow & for fewer days...but this is just my experience...you could always have a blood test just to make sure!

Right before I started getting my period again I thought I was pregnant! Scary when your baby is so young, huh? ;) Mine took awhile to get back to normal, although I'm still breastfeeding (my cycle began to return once my baby was started on baby food). I had another pregnancy scare with my third or fourth cycle, when it was terribly light and short.

I'd say your body is just getting back into the swing of things, so to speak. It'll probably take awhile to get back to your kind of normal.
