Question Re Working Out During Lunch

I want to walk around at a decent pace for my hour long lunch. Problem is, summer's coming up and I have no access to a shower at work. I know some mamas on here said they work out during their lunch hour -- do you shower after? Wear your work clothes if you're just walking? How do you manage? Thanks!

No access to a shower...here is what I do...

1. I do not walk or workout in my work clothes (even though we are a casual work environment)
2. keep a brush, comb, pony tail, deodorant, extra make up if having a meeting.
3. Baby wipes...they work wonders and body spray

I would definitely shower but I used to work out at my gym during lunch.
Hmmm.....what could you do if you don't have access to a shower at your work?
Sponge bath/wipe down in the big stall so you have privacy?
I would not forgo the walk/workout.
Change into other clothes to walk: shorts/t-shirt or leggings/t-shirt.
Bring baby wipes to wipe your armpits.
Bring deodorant so you can re-apply.
Drink water. Apply some facial powder to take away the facial sheen.
But keep the workout and enjoy the outdoors: Good for you body, your heart, your health and your attitude.

I do not have a shower at work and I do work out on my lunch breaks (jogging outside or running in a back stairwell--so I get sweaty).

I bring a bag to work with:
Sneakers
Workout clothes
Baby wipes
Travel body wash
Baby powder (scented is nice)
Clean underwear
Fresh nursing pads (I'm breastfeeding, so this is a must for me)
Deodorant

After I workout, I strip in the bathroom (we have singles, but I've used a stall), wiped off top to bottom with baby wipes (they're amazing, really), sprinkle some powder in the clean panties and a few other still-damp areas, gotten dressed, dampened my hair (I keep it really short and never do anything with it anyway), and wash my face at the sink with paper towels. If my arms are gunky I'll take a spit-bath with the body wash. I WISH we had a shower, but this works out okay and then I shower before bed when my husband gets home. I keep thinking of trying to run before work, but I just can't bring myself to get less than 4 or 5 hours of sleep.

Oh, and if I'm just walking, I change if what I'm wearing is not comfortable for walking or if it is really hot (I don't like walking in a skirt since it will blow up on me) and I do wear sneakers for that. I've hit up a few co-workers to jog or walk with me, so that makes it more fun and if you have a date for it, it helps that much more. :)

Oh, and M L B--that is so true how good it is--it really helps me refocus for the rest of my day and is much better than sitting in the lunch room.

I also love the idea of body spray--I keep meaning to buy some since all of us start to feel the heat when we've been outside at work. :)

I'm responding this not to be snarky (promise!) just to say I'm glad you are aware of the potential problem. I used to work with a woman (my boss no less) who would run outside during lunch and I have no idea what her clean up routine was but I HATED having afternoon meeting with her because her entire office would smell like a sweaty locker room after her runs. I know she reapplied deodorant, not sure what else she did but I can tell you it was not enough. I admire your desire to exercise though!

Are there stairs in your building? You can do stationary lunges in your office. And I like the idea of baby wipes, baby powder & reapplying deodorant. You can also get dry shampoo to spray in your hair. If you are going to get a little sweaty I would bring a change of clothes.

I love to do the stairs durning lunch because it is inside with the air. 10 flights. I keep a pair a pair of jogging pants,T- shirt, deordarant and a towel in my desk to freshen up if I have to in the bathroom.

It depends.

#1-If you have no access to a shower then it is moot.
#2-Time...... depends on your situation.
#3-Do you sweat a lot? If not so much then no problem. You can either walk in your work clothes or change. Walking shoes are the only essential. If you sweat a bit but don't smell, still no problem.
#4-Is there an air conditioned mall close by? Can you walk there?
#5-If all seems too much then make yourself get out of bed 1/2 hour earlier and have your walking shoes next to the bed........ do it before you get ready for work.

Another tip if you choose to walk mornings. Walk Saturday and Sunday and 3-4 days during the week. Give yourself 1-2 days off so you don't have to get up so early during weekdays.
