You might try an earlier bedtime. That way, he doesn't get overtired. We found our kids did much better with an earlier bedtime and got on track with naps, too, when they were younger.
My 12 month old used to fall asleep on his own very well, no problems. Since he learned how to pull up he won't fall asleep for sometimes on hour and sometimes not at all. It is getting to the point where he won't sleep and gets over-stimulated and only takes one nap for a short time (usually 30 min). When this happens it then effects his nightime sleep. He'll go from sleeping 12 hours a night to 10. Any suggestions? HELP!!!

Pretty typical with some kids. My daughter has never been a long sleeper... and the Dr. said it's fine as long as she's healthy and not cranky all the time. I agree - try an ealier bed time... try some sound machines, relaxing routine before bed - no food too close to bed (sometimes wires them)... trial and error. I also think they feel our anxiety if it's there, so to the extent you can all relax in the evening... maybe that would help : )
10 hours a night sleep isn't that bad to be honest. as kids get older they will want to sleep less believe me I know as if I can get my kids to sleep an 8 hr night I count myself lucky. This sounds about normal for that age of being 1 yr old .
I am in the same boat let me know if you find something that works
