I used to go to Young's farm, but they closed down...anyone know of a good pumpkin patch to take my son? I don't want just a tent on the side of the road.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We went to the one in Chino Valley...I would not recommend it. It was small, there wasn't a blade of grass to be seen anywhere, which made it a complete dust bowl. It wasn't any cooler, I think it was over 90 degrees at least. Their "petting zoo" consisted of some goats and 3 sheep, they also had a donkey and a horse in pens you could look at. Oh, and 3 bunnies in cages. The pumpkin patch was completely dead...no green leaves anywhere, just pumpkins amongst dead vines and dirt. We were completely filthy when we left, as was our stroller and wagon. I don't know, maybe I'm expecting too much, I grew up in WI and everything is different there...maybe this is how all "farms" are in AZ. We went to Tomolchoff farms last year and liked it better, although it still doesn't compare to anything back in the midwest.

I went to this pumpkin patch several years ago before I had my daughter and I will be going there again this year.

I just heard of this pumpkin patch in Chino Valley, which is not too far from Prescott. I have not been there yet, but I plan on trying to get up there this year. Their website is www.azpumpkins.com

I have also heard the Mother Nature's Farm near Gilbert and Baseline is good, but I have never been there either.

We have always gone to Young's Farm, as well, so we are trying to find a new place to pick our pumpkins at. I definitely think the one in Chino Valley sounds like a winner.

Of course, there is always Schnepf's Farm, but I just find it too costly when you have to pay for admission, rides and pumpkins.

We went to Mother Nature's farm this weekend... nothing special and over priced IMHO. It did have a few great photo ops but the hay ride was very lame and there were very few activities... My sister has always taken her kids to a pumpkin farm in Willcox AZ. I don't know how far you want to travel.
I just googled it - here is a link to some in and around the valley: http://phoenix.about.com/cs/events/a/halloween01_2.htm

Hi J.,

I agree that Schepff Farms is a lot of fun but they are pricey. Mother Nature's Farm is much smaller and cheaper...the kids have a good time which is all that counts, right? I have also heard of the one in Chino Valley...some friends of ours tried it this year and they had a good time. We will probably try that one this year to escape the city and the heat.

Have a great time wherever you decide to go!
