Public Water Play Structures in LA Area

Hi! I heard there's a new water jumpy slide thingy in Woodland Hills, off the 101, right before Calabasas. Looks fun.

Santa Clarita Aquatic center is great. Try googling it

I did this exact research last year. I copied & pasted the information from my word document. I haven't been to the ones in the Valley yet, so call ahead to make sure the information is correct. (I've been to Santa Clarita aquatic ctr and Simi Valley R.Tapo, Seaside Lagoon, and Northridge). Stay cool and enjoy this summer. BTW- if you use your LA Public Library card at the LA parks, I think you get a discount (vs get in free?).

The second water feature is a spiral water slide with a 20-foot by 20-foot landing pool that includes a water spray.

The main pool features a wide shoreline effect, allowing kids to make their way gradually
into the water without stairs. The largest area is only two to three feet deep and festooned with large, unusually shaped sprinklers and fountains. There is also a shallow lap lane. A separate pool has a very large, very popular water slide for older kids. Visitors should check with the facility before paying a visit, as opening hours vary all summer long.

It has ponds, water play during the summer and a fantastic playground (though you may never get to the playground if you get absorbed in walking the rest of the grounds). The sunny playground boasts brand new equipment, including tire swings, digging apparatus, see-saws, and some very unusual climbing and balancing structures. Children and parents will appreciate the abundance of sand, and parents particularly will welcome the abundance of benches. I love Lemon Park!!!!

Rancho Tapo Community Park in Simi Valley, also known as Lemon Park, offers a water play area during the summer. It also has a special Veterans Memorial. Rancho Simi Community Park has a pond with ducks and a little stream where children can wade in the ankle deep water.

Rancho Tapo Park is the bomb!!! We go there with friends every 4th of July and you can't keep the kids out of the every changing water squirter things

You can go to the Music Center in Downtown L.A. - only 2 blocks from the Red Line subway stop at Civic Center - it has water fountains that sprout out from the ground and kids can just walk around and get a good soak. There is no charge to walk around the grounds at Music Center. I know it's not in the Valley, but if you don't mind a subway trip out there, it's as good a spot for free water entertainment as any.

North Hollywood Park on Tujunga just north of Magnolia. Also, the park on Addison, between Hazeltine and Van Nuys in Sherman Oaks has a pool and toddler pool. Drive by and check them out.

You might give a call to the parks close to you to see if any of them are remodeling and adding a splash area for little ones. The Sylmar park pool is just finishing adding a splash area but probably doesn't have it on their website (if they even have a website). There is a great little kids' pool play area in Santa Clarita at their Aquatic Center but sometimes the wait to get in is kind of long. You just have to call around. There's also another smaller spash area at a park in Simi.

Sherman Oaks / Van Nuys Rec Center has a big pool with a large shallow end, it also has a fenced off kiddie pool. Check for open swim hours for both pools, as the hours differ. Also, North Hollywood near the Library, on Tujunga off of Magnolia. Also, Burbank has two pools, Verdugo and McArthur Park. I think it costs a little more if you are not a Burbank resident.

I've tried Panorama Splash Pad once and Pacific Park in Glendale also has a water play area. I'm sure you'll get many other suggestions as there are several around the area, you just have to know where to go.

The Arboreteum in Pasadena, and Kidspace in Pasadena have good ones. Not too many of them, get a slip and slide.

Also, the Westside Jewish Community Center has an amazing swim program, which includes kids your childs age. The YMCA in Reseda has great pool, I don't know about their programs. The Reseda park also has a pool, again don't know about their programs.

I second Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beaach - also Splash in La Mirada - google them and look at the pictures.

I love the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center!!! It works for both my kids (currently 10years old and 6 years old) and we have gone for the past 3 years and had it been around when they were younger it would have been great. It is not free for you (last year was $5 for adults) but I think under 2 years are free.
