My son is currently teething with his top teeth right now. One popped through yesterday and I can see second one on the surface. My question is could teething cause projectile vomiting? He has been projectile vomiting once a day for the past week. I think he has been swallowing a lot of his saliva because he has not been drooling as much as usual ( he is a drool machine) I'm not sure if the saliva is causing a tummy ache and then when he eats the food irritates it. After he vomits he goes on like normal, laughing and playing. Does anyone know if the teething can be the cause of his vomiting?

I know some people say the extra saliva can cause stool issues (looser stools, bum rash) ... and they tend to be putting things in their mouths even more to chew on (more germs) ...
I haven't heard of vomiting. Does he have a fever?
If he's sick, with a fever and vomiting (and it continues or worsens), I would call your doctor.

Throwing up from saliva/mucous? Maybe.
Projectile? Doubt it.
My son had a tendency to get an ear infection when he was teething, which would make him vomit. I would have him checked out by the pediatrician.
what are you feeding him? if hes only doing it once a day after eating then i would be looking at what was eaten. some people are super sensitive to how food is prepared. (like my dh, he will get nauseated if he eats leftovers that have been refrigerated for more than 24 hours.)
i would keep track of wahts being fed and see if its one food thats causing the issue.
Doctor visit, today. Don't let them put you off or say they don't have an opening until next week. I agree with the posts below that while some stomach upsets or intestinal upsets can be related to teething, this doesn't sound like that. Daily projectile vomiting is a clear indicator he needs to be seen by the doctor now. And some viruses only cause a kid to vomit maybe once in 24 hours, so don't assume that because he's not vomiting frequently it can't be a virus -- it can. Also please do not assume that no fever means no virus; there are viruses that cause vomiting but no fever. Doctor time.
