Hi L.,
I have lots of experience with this topic & do use the cream as well. "ProgesterIN" refers to a synthetic hormone, one that is similar in chemical structure to the human hormone "progesterONE". "Bio-identical" progesterone is extracted from plants & has the exact same chemical structure as the human hormone - given in form of a cream because it is readily absorbed through the skin and you can use less of it since most is not filtered out by your digestive system, liver, etc. Sounds like you were taking the bio-identical progesterone - good for your doctor! Surprisingly, most doctors do not know the difference. fyi - The sythetic hormones have to be tweaked slightly in order for drug companies to patent them & make a profit.
The pioneer in this field is Dr. John Lee. His website is www.drjohnlee.com - lots of great information there. Also, there is a 6 page article on this topic in the July issue of Oprah magazine. If you'd like a copy, email me separately & I will send you the pdf of the article.
The reason you probably responded to the cream is that 85% of women are "estrogen dominant" by the age of 35. That means we do not make enough progesterone to balance out all the excess estrogen we are exposed to. Excess estrogen is NOT good, causes many symptoms including PMS, headaches, insomnia, mood swings, foggy brain, to name a few as well as increases our risk of several cancers. Let me know if you'd like any additional info. -M.
