Hello ladies, I am 30 years old and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I was wondering if anyone has or had endomitrosis? I am having some symptoms and not sure what to do, I had a Pap done and it came back normal. I am scared and not sure what to do. Please any advice would be great.

Well i have found out that i have a cyst on my left ovary that is the size of a grape and my gyn said it would go away but she is also referring me to a GI dr. I do have one question, should i let them know that endometrosis and ibs run on both side of my family?
I have endometriosis. The only way your doctor can tell if you have it is by a laparoscopy (surgery). A pap test will not tell you if you have it. My biggest symptom was extremely painful periods, plus infertility. But not everyone's symptoms are the same. Nor is the amount of pain you are experiencing related to the severity of the disease. I have endometriosis and have had it since I was 17 (I am now 37). The only way to tell if you do have it is to make an appointment with your gyno. They can do a pelic exam and if you have tenderness and pain they will want to do a laparoscopy (a scope that looks internally). I have had 4 laparascopies and during those they burn any endometriosis they find.
The best treatment for me has been having kids and being on the birth control pill without a period.
A good indicator of having endometriosis is exstream pain during periods and during intercourse.

What symptoms are you having? I did not know I had endomitriosis until I had a hysterectomy at the beginning of September. I have been told that it can be painful.
I have had endomitriosis sinc I was 19. The only way they can diagnose it is to do a laproscopy. What kind of symptoms are you having? I found that being on a birth controll pill helps the pain associated with it. Your pap should always be normal even with endo.
Well it just so happens I am currently being treated for it. The only way to tell for certain is larascopic surgery but my GYN prefers to do that last. Needless to say I was put on Lybrel to avoid ovulating completely - don't get a period and although I had breakout bleeding it certainly helped. I am new to this area with no insurance so when the RX ran out the pain came back full force. Getting on birth control is the best for now. I understand it will only get worse. I had a pap, cat scan and ultrasound but apparently it is hard to detect unless they go in larascopically. I have that on top of cysts and was in horrible pain for last 3 weeks. Good luck.
I just had a vaginal ultrasound, and found out that I have fibroid tumors which are non cancerous. But this ultrasound most likely can deny or confirm your fear. I would talk to your dr. or gynocologist about getting it done.
Endometreosis is not a big deal. The last time I had it was out patient and the dr. just did a laser "clean up" using a minor incision near my belly button. You can't even see the incision now. That was about 18 years ago. It may even be easier today.
I did have to go to the hospital, get put to sleep, and I had to get hubby to drive me home then I laid on the couch a couple of days.
I was told the monthly cycle is what makes the endometreosis stick around so getting pregnant is good for it. Also there were 3 monthly shots that my gyn gave me about 15 years ago that made me go into a short "menopause" - because you don't have your periods then either. btw. i loved the shots because i felt wonderful and NO MONTHLY cycle!! :) since then I'm looking SO forward to menopause. :)
