I use one, it's powder form and i add just a little to her milk each day. I don't know the name, but she can't taste it so it seems to be working.
My toddlers diet is really crazy, which is effecting her bowel movements. She goes from constipated to very soft stools. I've heard of probiotics for kids, but does anyone give them to their toddlers? If so, what brand? Where have you bought them at? I have had no luck in finding them, so any help would be great! Thanks Moms!!

You can use probiotics even on babies. I know other nursing moms who use it all the time especially when the mother or baby needs to be on antibiotics to prevent getting thrush.
Whole Foods has a bunch of them.
I used Florastor for my son when he was a toddler after he had diarrhea due to antibiotics. We got them at Walgreen's or CVS, but call ahead because not all stores have them. If the store doesn't have it, ask the pharmacy to order it--it takes a few days. They worked well and I now use them proactively if my son is on antibiotics. My husband also uses the adult version for the same reason.
We mixed the Florastor with applesauce or mixed in with juice or water. They don't taste bad and I think they work great.
NSI is good and great discounts at vitacost.com.
If you want the best and cleanest there is a company from Australia called miessence. I have a friend that can help you out with those.
You also want to check into dairy and gluten intolerance's. Those play a huge role in bowel movements.

My doctor recommended yogurt a day. He said that is enough.
I buy my son's at Fruitful Yield. Nature's Way brand. Someone suggested giving them to my son who had food allergies. I consulted with his allergist and he said it would not hurt anything to give them to him.
There really isn't much in yogurt. Go to any health food store like Whole Foods, Vitamin Shoppe or Fruitful Yield. They sell infant and kid probiotics. Just ask for help.
You can get probiotics that are chewable or you can get them in powder form to add to liquid. I know you can get the powdered kind at Fruitful Yield (there's one by Kohl's by Fox Valley Mall). You can get the chewable at the Vitamin Shoppe. I'm sure you can get them at Whole Foods, too.
I give my daughter the chewable kind and they seem to help her.
Good luck!

I use floragen 3 capsules. I just open a capsule and dump in my sons goat milk. I purchase mine from a health food store. They are refridgerated.
Good Luck!
Excellent one is Primadophilus by Natures Way. It's formula is specifically designed for children ages 0-5 and mixes easily into beverages. Used it for several years with our child. Can be found in most health food stores.
Hi D. -
I use a chewable probiotic for both of my children (3yr and 2yr). I get Nature's Bounty Chewable Acidophilus from Walgreens. Sometimes they are buy one get one free!! The kids love them because they are stawberry flavor. When I talked to our dr about it he did not say that we have to find one that is specifically for children. It says for adults to take one three times a day. I just give the boys one a day with the rest of their vitamins.
Good luck.

Pro-Bio Gold. I get it from my chiropractor, Bill Buchar, in Aurora. He said the key is to have 20 billion units and more than 3 types (or more is even better) of the various cultures. He recommends two capsules to 'get on track' and one for maintenance. My daughter had to start using them this summer, and we have had really good luck!
My son has been taking probiotics since he was 6 weeks old and he has never been constipated! He also gets one yogurt with breakfast every morning, but the yogurt alone is definately not enough! I agree with the other posts about going to a health food store and asking specifically for infant probiotics (which can be used up to five years old!).
Let us know if you try it and how it works!!!
P.S. We have been using Udo's Choice Infant Probiotics
