My son is 2 1/2 and we are thinking of preschool next year. My family doctor recommended Macalster Plymouth Preschool, but I would also love feedback from any of you, either about Macalster or any other preschool. Thank you.

Myself and many of my friends who have had and currently have their children at Macalester-Plymouth Preschool are more than THRILLED with that program. In fact, my youngest son will be starting there Fall 2006 and we actually moved out of St Paul and I'll be driving him because I am convinced there is no better preschool program around. I am also a K-12 special ed teacher with a Masters Degree in Education, so both from the parent perspective and educator perspective I am extremely impressed. You will not be disappointed if you choose Mac-Plymouth!

My son is currently enrolled at Family Academy Charter school (Hamline and Thomas) and I really like it. the preschool teacher is wonderful, she has two assistants, one of them is a special ed teacher that works on everyday behavorial issues with the kids.

I have been visiting schools in the area, and liked St. Cate's, which has both Montessori and non-Montessori, also Highland Montessori on SUmmit, but there are no openings for next year. Maybe you had better luck than I did, but I called MacalasterPlymouth and they basically laughed at me, it sounded like I should have gotten on their waiting list when I was pregnant.
If you haven't called them, I would do that soon. There is another program called Keystone in Merriam Park that does 1/2 days and my sister's kids have loved. I also visited St. Paul's Childhood Center , right near Victoria Crossing. That is a bigger place but I know several parents who loved it. They do full time if you need it too.
If you come across anything fantastic, please feel free to let me know, I still haven't completely decided. There are a lot of options out there.
Good luck! M.

D.,
I don't know about that preschool but my son attended Jean Lyle Child Center in the same area and we absolutely loved it. I have already signed my 1 year old daughter up for a spot when she is ready.
