Preschool Listings

Have you tried Childcare Resource and Referral at www.arizonachildcare.org? Not all of the childcares are listed through them, but it is a really great resource. You can either browse their website or call them during the day to be directed to homes that fit your criteria.

Also have you tried Craigslist? Not the best route, as there are quite a few unqualified providers on the site, but it is a starting point. Good luck in your search.

My kids have gone/go to Sunny Days Preschool at Chandler and Dobson for 6 years. It's not an in home preschool but it's family owned and a great preschool. It's a laid back athmosphere, the kids are taught respect and responsibility and the owner is in the business because she loves it (not to get rich). The price is one of the lowest in the area (the owner works hard to keep her prices low). My oldest is in 1st grade and he was very prepared for kindergarten. He knew so much going into kindergarten that I was surprised at how basic the kindergarten work was. Being my first child I didn't have anything to compare his skills to and figured he was right in line with other kids. He didn't know how to read but he knew or had exposure to most of what was being taught. My second child is 22 months old and currently attends Sunny Days. I like the place enough that I work only 4 miles from home in the opposite direction from Sunny Days and go out of my way to take my son there. Good luck.

I strongly recommend that you look into King of Glory Preschool. Though it is not an in-home preschool, it sounds like just what you are looking for - developmental rather than highly academic, and affordable. Also, the teachers and director have been there for years and it is a very positive, loving place for children. King of Glory is listed and reviewed on Mamasource.
