"Preschool"/classes for Little Ones?

I am a SAHM with a 13 month old. I'm interested in eventually getting him involved in some sort of class so that he can interact with other children and separate from me for a bit. We take classes together through our park district (Schaumburg) now, but I'm wondering if classes exist for young children without Mom- maybe once a week for a couple of hours? Anyone know of anything like this?

What can I do next?

The Schaumburg Park District actually has a class called Just for Me, but kids have to be at least 28 months old. It's 15 minutes together, 45 minutes just kids and teachers, then 15 minutes togther for a book and snack. My daughter's been going with Grandma and seems to like it.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Higgins also has a Parent's Day Out with their preschool but it's 3+.

J.,

I highly recommend First United Methodist Church's preschool program in Palatine (right off Plum Grove Road) - it's a straight shot from Schaumburg. It's a great program and offered M-F. You can select only T TH - which is their extended day or MWF shorter days. It's an excellent program and I have always felt they do a great job dealing with separation anxiety, potty training and everything in between.

Some churches in my area have "mom's day out" where you can drop off your little one for a few hours, but I don't know if they take them that small. There's the diaper changing issue and some places don't want to deal with it.

But that's what it is called, so you could call around and ask if any of them have that program. You don't have to be a member of the church, but there is a fee involved.

The "Mom Day Out" is probably your best option for a 2 year old preschool. I had several friends that had their 2 year olds in one at the Holy Cross Luthern Church in Libertyville. As the previous person said, you don't have to be a member to enroll. Also, there are private preschools that take 2 year olds. I don't think there is really anything out there for under 2s unless you decide to utilize a daycare center.
