Each vitamin is different, but at the very least it can lose its potency and at the very worst, can have different results if taken after the exp date.
Its like prescription drugs, its not a good idea to take them after the expiration date.
I still have plenty of prescription prenatal vitamins from my first pregnancy. The prescription label lists a date of when they should be used by. Does anyone know if it's still ok to use them? Do vitamins really expire within one year?

I agree with previous post. :)
I just heard an newsarticle about this topic...expiration date on over the counter medications. They said that the date is how long the medicine is potent and helpful, given then most medicines are not kept in ideal conditions (constant temperature, no humidity, etc.)
If you're like me, you keep the medicine in the bathroom, so these "ideal" conditions are not met.
But, prenatal vitamins are really just multivitamins with folic...so why worry about using old ones. You could buy new multi-vitamins at any drugstore or get a new prescription.
I agree with the others, esp you being pregnant, don't take any risks. I am in the medical field and have seen plenty of patients who come in for adverse drug reactions from expired medications. Don't risk it.
they may have an expiration date but i still tookn mine after they expired and im still ok. everyones body is diffrent though so my advise is take one one day and make sure you still feel ok by the end of the day my mother took her old vitamins and that was almost 2 yrs after the date on the bottle and she was ok too so it just depends on your body!!
