Pregnant?.........symptoms Of Something Else?

I have been taking birth control pills the past 4 months. Not precisely at the same time each day (around the same time though) but never missing a pill. I started my last period 5/25/11 and ended 5/30/11 (starting my new pack of pills 5/29/11) I had unprotected sex 5/31/11 and have now been cramping for a week. I paid no attention to the back pain I have been having until I noticed my breasts were sore and I had a headache and slight nausea!

I woke up this morning with a headache, nausea and cramping. My period is not due for another 13 days. I doubt I'm pregnant considering all the factors (on birth control and time of unprotcted sex) but I havent ruled it out (although I did take a pregnancy test this morning, it was negative)

Would you think you were pregnant? What else could all of this be?

What can I do next?

Sounds to me like you are ovulating. I would have a painful day or two on occasion inbetween periods and I always blamed it on that.

If you never had a break in birth control pills then you are not pregnant. Also when you are on the pill you do not ovulate. I would say sometimes your breast and all can get sore before your period. The heat can make you nauseous, taking vitamins on a empty stomach a headache could be allergies. stop worrying,it sounds like you are taking the necessary precautions.

If your period is due in 13 days wouldn't you be ovulating now?

I get cramps and a headache when I ovulate.

Well, if you're on the pill, you don't ovulate. And you're likely not pregnant if you take it every day. It's probably something else. My breast get sore about a week before I get my period. Maybe you're feeling sick because you're worrying so much!

If you're taking the pill then you didn't have unprotected sex. The pill is the protection. As another poster said, if you're period is due in 13 days then you should be ovulating right around now.

I think you should make an appt. with your gyn. You may need a different pill, or he/she can find out what is really going on, virus, etc.

If you were pregnant, that would be awfully fast for the symptoms to start. You would be only 2-3 weeks along right now (which is actually generally the time of conception, and just past). So I would guess not pregnant, too.

Could it be the pills? I know you've been taking them for a few months, but sometimes they can cause similar symptoms because of the hormones they use.

The other thing that jumps to mind is a viral intestinal bug. That can cause all the symptoms, even if you're not actually vomiting or anything. Or, it could be an ovarian cyst (not uncommon, although the pill usually controls it, but not anything to freak out over). There are a lot of other things that these symptoms could mean. If you continue to feel worse, or don't feel better in a few days, you might want to call the doctor just to rule anything out.

try getting a blood test pregnancy test. they're more accurate. However in my case I showed neg. on 6 test ( 3 blood, & urine). On the 7 th test done at clinic a urine test showed a pos. Its just a thought. Also, where you on an antibiotic during your taking of the pill?

I am having those exact same symptoms right now but they come everytime I get my period. Even if you were pregnant, it wouldn't show up on a home test anyway...too soon. It sounds like some type of bug... Relax and (I know it's tough but try!) just wait it out... If you end up being late, go to your doctor and get a blood test for pregnancy.

I don't think its pregnancy either- although I guess you never know. But I think its a little early to be showing signs.

Absolutely NO. I would not think I was pregnant. I wouldn't even consider the possiblity.

The first thing I would think of was I might be having a reaction to the bc pills or coming down with some type of bug.

Nope, I never worried about being pregnant until I was late, then I would start to wonder. You are worrying yourself over nothing. You probably wouldnt be having pregnancy symptoms yet.

chances are you are not pregnant...

I am not saying it is impossible... but wait till your next period is supposed to come before you get nervous! Cramps could be caused by a lot of things... ovulation, fibroids, hormonal shifts... etc...

Depending on the KIND of pill you take, you can still ovulate. Some pills mostly effect the lining of your uterus so that an egg cannot implant... but you still can ovulate. Others stop ovulation all together.

If the cramping is very painful or lasts a while make an appointment with the doctor. An ultrasound might be done to look for any issues like cysts or fibroids or other problems...

Good Luck!

Well, I got pregnant on the pill. Twice. But I was antibiotics that weren't supposed to interact with the pill and did anyway. I was one of the lucky 3%.

If you got your period last month on schedule with the pill, then chances are it's working properly. You wouldn't ovulate per se, but your body can still feel like it is. My ovulations have almost always felt worse than my actual period... like a period but multiplied by ten. And right now would be when your body is saying, "HEY! I'm supposed to be ovulating!"

But if you continue to feel this way for another few days and it doesn't go away then you need to call your OB/GYN. There are any number of reasons you're feeling like this and it's better to get things checked out than to let it continue.
