Pregnant Mama Confused About What My Job!

I am 6 months pregnant and as expected, I'm overly hormonal. I'm in the stage where I am wondering what I'm going to do after the new baby is born. We have figured out that we cannot afford to send two kids to daycare but I need to generate an income. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have worked at my current job for 7 years and I have a lot of valuable experience that I can use. If any Moms have any suggestions, please share!

Perhaps your company would be open to a personal work arrangement - part-time/telecommuting. There are many references online on how to approach this topic but if your proposal is well thought out and they are open to it, hopefully it'll work to your advantage. If I can find my old proposals, I would be happy to send them to you. Unfortunately, my company was 110% any personal arrangement but hopefully that won't be the case for you. Also, I believe, you should not make note of this arrangement until you are on your maternity leave and nearing the end. Good luck and congrats!

Hi M.,
May I suggest to you what's worked for me over the past 3 years? Call toll free 866-673-8937 and someone will call you back immediately. Like me, you probably need to generate a reliable stream of income month after month after month and not all companies offer this. Not only has the company worked for me but it has for my husband as well. We don't have to sell, stock or deliver any product. There's no party planning, no financial risk and I'm able to work around my children and not the other way around. The website is www.thefreedomteam.net and the password is freedom.

The obvious suggestion would be a home based business that you love and believe in. There are a ton of them of course. The most important thing is time with your family first and then your income. May as well enjoy it. I do Homemade Gourmet and love it because it revolves around food (which everyone needs unlike jewelery or tupperware), it has a christian mission, and its affordable to anyone not just "some" people. www.homemadegourmet.com if you want to check it out. Low start up fee, carry as little or as much stock as you want and 40% commission.

M., if you can get the company to work with you GREAT!!! I was in the same boat many years ago and I decided to stay home with my kids. I could not have done this without an extra income, I decided to try The Body Shop because I love the product and the values that it stood by. I make way more now then I was at my Full Time job minus day care ($350/week for 2 kids) and parking expenses($220/month)!! Check out my website www.thebodyshopathome.com/web/faithjones there is a kit to invest in however you get triple that in product AND you can get the kit 1/2 price this month!! The kit is paid for with one small event. If you want more info let me know. A HBB is the way to go. You are able to be with the kids and earn an income. It is still work, depending on how much you want to earn!!
I would love to discuss this with you more so please contact me if you want some more info ... I am sure you will be successful if you want to give it a try!!

There are other low paying options... everyone told me to watch other peoples kids at home... that may be for you... it wasn't for me!! I have also heard that bus drivers can bring their kids with them... pay isn't very good however, you are with your kids... just a couple other options.

Lena you are crazy girl... you didn't even post all the business' you do!! The jerky is pretty good though!! :)

Oh yes one more thing... as was stated before by someone. I do not recommend telling your employer until you are near the end of your maternity leave!!!! Just put yourself and your family first!!!!

Take into consideration when looking for your new job how much you are actually saving now that you are at home. Gas, daycare, dry cleaning, lunch, take out, work wardrobe, taxes, it really ads up. I don't think most people realize how much money they pay out to go to work.

I am a daycare provider and I really like my new "job". It allows me to stay at home with my children and they have great friends to play with everyday. I have a friend who is a pet sitter and she makes a good living doing that. Another option is to see if your current employer would consider letting you working from home and coming to the office 1-2 days per week.

Think of things you enjoy doing and try to figure out a way to do it at home. Good luck!

Hi M.!

Congrats!! Very exciting time for you. I agree with Nicole. If you can work something out with your current employer all the better. I was able to work with my company so that I could work 3 days from home and 2 days downtown and it's been a Godsend! It's been working for over 2 years. I wrote out a proposal from Workoptions.com Worth every penny I paid for the proposal template. If you'd like more info on what I did feel free to send me a personal message.

Here's that website
http://www.workoptions.com/index.htm

I am also a distributor for Juice Plus which I'm passionate about and hope to eventually build into a viable source of income but any home based business you do isn't likely to pay your mortgage.......at least not for a long time after a lot of hard work. If your interested in Juice Plus feel free to contact me about that as well. Good luck1
