Pregnancy Workout Dvd's

Does anyone have any suggestions on good workout DVD's for pregnancy? We are hoping to start expanding our family this month (keep your fingers crossed for us) :) and I certainly do not want my 3rd pregnancy to be like my last two (meaning I gained in between 60-65 lbs with each) :( Not fun at all, especially the after math of trying to lose all that weight. I am hoping for a healthy, active pregnancy this time around. I have a good mind set, I just need help finding the right tools. A gym membership is not an option right now, we are on a strict budget so I don't have the option of that so I am hoping I can find a great DVD(s) to work out with at a home.
As always, your feedback is appreciated.

So What Happened?

Thank you all so very much for your responses. I will check out the DVD's suggested and see which ones may be the right fit for me. :) Also, the suggestion about walking around the mall in the AM before it opens is great. I checked my local mall and it does open early so I will definitely get cracking on that. My oldest has AM kindergarten so I can certainly make walking at the mall work. :)

Thanks again! You mama's rock!

I was walking for about 45 minutes to an hour for the first couple of months. I did the Billy Blanks Tae-Bo 'Flex' workout every day starting at about 4 months in, all the way through to the end, and it was great. I think I began skipping the jumping jacks towards the later part of the 8th month, but everything else was low impact enough to work well the whole time. It's a fairly old video by now, so you'll probably be able to get it online pretty cheap. Best wishes!

Hi J.,

I really liked "Fit and Firm Pregnancy" by Denise Austin. It has 3 20-min workouts on it: 1 cardio, 1 toning for 1st&2nd trimester, and 1 toning for 3rd trimester. Denise Austin's personality can be a little over the top, if you're not used to her, but the exercises really are very good.

walking is a great exercise during pregancey and it doesn't cost anything and their are a lot of pregancey yoga tapes. you may try like net flicks and see if they have any choices then you could get a few and switch them up every so often and not have to buy them... My favorite was The Perfect Pregnancy Workout with Karyn Steben. It had a good variety and pace, with adaptations for people of different skill levels. Also, it incorporates the exercises you're supposed to do for labor and delivery. There's also a second volume out now (wasn't out while I was pregnant, so I haven't tried it), but it's the same title, Vol. 2, with Sarah Steben.

I really enjoyed doing pre-natal yoga. One good DVD is from Gaiam called Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rea. Another good one is The Complete Fit & Healthy Pregnancy Workout with Gabrielle Reece.

All the best

In addition to working out, remember that many malls open early for "mall walkers" who like to exercise without dealing with cold, ice, snow and traffic. If Bryana goes to school, you can maybe put Kaylie in a stroller and go for a brisk walk before the stores open. You may meet other moms too, or you can put a notice in your library to recruit others who might like to do the same thing. It's a nice change from being in front of the TV, and it's free - no temptation to even shop because the stores aren't open! Good luck!
