Pregnancy Symptoms Seem Gone...

I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. I had my first ultrasound on Tuesday and saw my little baby and heard the heartbeat. The doctor said the heartbeat was strong. I am so excited. I have experienced very little in the way of pregnancy symptoms so far. The main symptom has been breast tenderness. This morning I woke up and panicked because my tenderness is virtually gone. I am so scared because I have read about women who lost their symptoms and later found out the pregnancy had not progressed. Could this be what is happening?

So What Happened?

THANK YOU EVERYONE for your encouraging and thoughtful remarks! I called my doctor yesterday and was reassured that everything was fine. And -my tenderness has returned in full force! Guess it just took a day off. I won't be complaining about it, that is for sure. :-)

The sore boobs thing doesn't last too long - thankfully.
I've been preggo many times - I've miscarried many times- each time I had different symptoms - with my son my boobs were on fire, I couldn't stand odors for 4 months and felt carsick 24-7 for 4 months - never threw up - just REALLY wanted to. At 4 months I got horny meanwhile hubby had seen the ultrasound and was freaked out that the baby was watching so no love for Mama.
anyway - this time around I'm at 13 weeks - everything is great - I've had 4 ultrasounds - all gorgeously normal. My boobs never so much has itched so far, I was nauseated right away - odd for me but it went away at 8 weeks so I freaked out - but everything is still moving along just fine.
You don't have to have textbook symptoms to have a healthy pregnancy. This time around I've had a lot of wierd symptoms - I coughed and popped all the blood vessels in my eye - my gums bled like crazy for 2 weeks - I get dizzy walking up stairs if I watch the steps - I have to look up. I'm having bizzare dreams - very vivid and I don't have any food cravings...oh yeah and I found a lump in my breast - but it's just a clogged milk duct...
hang in there!

I wouldn't worry... My first two kids I had no sign of being pregnant...nothing. I only got a little breast tenderness with my 2nd and that was it. No morning sickness, nothing. I wouldn't have even elt like I was pregnant except for the fact the my belly began to get a bulge and so forth.

Congratulations!

my breast tenderness did the same thing around 10 weeks and I had a very healthy full term little girl 30 weeks later.

Try not to worry about it, and congratulations on the pregnancy.

Hey V.,
Congratulations! I'd say count yourself lucky if you're virtually "symptomless!" As others have noted, they didn't feel much going on. I assure you, down the road you will! I recall reading somewhere that 60% feel sick the 1st trimester or so and 40% don't (or vice versa). I guess you just hear so much about people not feeling good, that you've got to remember it's around 50% that feel fine. I did not show being prego for awhile nor did I have much in the way of "symptoms." I recall asking my OBGYN when I was going to "feel" pregnant. She just laughed! Congrats again and enjoy!!

I only had breast tenderness at the very beginning, so I believe it's normal and not a cause to panic when it goes away.

Reading some of the responses, I think a home pregnancy test is a good idea just for your peace of mind.

Believe me, if you dont have lots of pregnancy symptoms, that's good! (although maybe not for your peace of mind if you keep listening to all those "warning" or "horror" stories)

anytime you have ANY inkling of worries...PLEASE call your OBGYN....they will probably have you come in for a pregnancy test or if you can't wait you can go to a clinic that gives free pregnancy tests or buy one at teh store.....

You are also not the only new momma calling in with worries so don't think they have not heard this before...

give them a call today.

I just read everyone elses responses and I guess you could say my first pregancy was not like thiers....I was pregnant, did not have symptoms, was worried why I wasn't, and miscarried at 8 weeks....

don't want to scare you, but I believe in being proactive in your pregancy..you've been trynig for a year....call your obgyn and let them knwo hyour concerns.

Dear V.,
Congratulations!
I know how hard it is not to be nervous when you're pregnant, expecially the first time.
Every pregnancy is different. The same woman may be miserable with one baby and not so much as have a swollen ankle with her next one.
I know that my first baby was very active and when she didn't kick me for a whole day, I was in a complete panic. But, she was fine and born perfectly healthy and beautiful.
OB/GYN's have heard every panic attack under the sun and they think nothing of it, so never be afraid to call them with your concerns.
And if you get to be one of those women who breeze through pregnancy with relatively little discomfort, thank your lucky stars!
Take good care of yourself and very best wishes to you!

No worries, and count your blessings! Some women have a horrible time with all kinds of symptoms, and some women get really lucky and feel great! My first pregnancy was terrible, and my second pregnancy, I hardly knew I was pregnant. Both babies turned out great. =)

I'm in my 8th week of pregnancy right now - so very similar to you. Our babies will be the same age! How fun. Anyway - if the heartbeat is strong and you're not having any bleeding - you should assume everything is okay. Otherwise it's just excessive worry. I know, I worry all the time. It's hard not to. But also - you should feel lucky that you are not too uncomfortable. I have this low grade nausea that just hangs around all the time. I never throw up. But eating is a constant battle. I don't think that there is any "normal" formula for symptoms. If you are going to miscarry it's not necessarily because you don't perceive symptoms. Most likely everything is fine. If you really can't take the uncertainty - ask your OB for another ultrasound.

I wouldn't be too scared. The same thing happened to me at around 10 weeks. I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed and then one morning it was just gone. I freaked out (due to a previous miscarriage and one year of trying to conceive subsequently). So I went out and got an at-home baby heartbeat thing which was useless because I could only hear my own, then I spent all day and night online for days trying to find out if this happened to anyone else. All it did was scare me even more. I couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, I was a mess! Well a week later the symptoms came back like crazy and I was sick until week 15 (but I've heard of them not coming back too so don't be worried if they're gone for good). The rest of the pregnancy progressed normally and I have a healthy happy 9 month old son. So my advice is enjoy your time without symptoms and just try to relax, the stress you're putting on yourself is probably not great for the baby (not that I'm one to talk) but just remember you're in the home stretch (3 weeks to go)!

After having losing 2 pregnancies I was worried about staying pregnant too. I'm in my second trimester now, and to deal with the uncertainty during the first trimester, bought pregnancy tests where you can see the line. If the line is getting lighter your hormones are moving in the wrong direction. I tested once a week and saw some slight variation, probably from testing at different times in the day, but overall they were always nice clear lines. It's not the most scientific way to go about it, but it did give me peace of mind to an extent. Good luck and I hope everything goes smoothly.

Hi V.-
I had to go through fertility treatments to get pregnant so when I finally was pregnant with my twins, I second guessed everything. I was lucky because with twins, I was given an ultrasound once a month because I was considered high risk. But, believe me, I called the doctor alot. Just to confirm everything was okay. I once even had some bleeding but everything worked out. It is hard not to focus on every detail when you are pregnant. But everyone's pregnancy is different and maybe your body is settling in to being pregnant. If you have a concern, call your doctor and let them reassure you. That is the best advice I have.. Good luck & enjoy your first prenancy. The second pregnancy is never like the first..put your feet up & let others pamper you! Good luck & best wishes..T.

Hi V.,

I had a miscarriage a few years ago before having my son, so if anyone was going to freak out over loss of symptoms it was me! I was on a miscarriage support website during my following (successful) pregnancy and I observed that like clockwork, at 9 weeks people would post and say their symptoms were gone and be scared they were miscarrying. Then within a few days they would be sicker than ever. Sure enough, it happened to me too! At 9 weeks 1 day pregnant, I called my mom and told her I felt almost completely normal. Within a few days I was puking again. Once you have seen the baby's heartbeat, your chance of miscarrying is very low. Try not to worry, and enjoy feeling good while it lasts! Feel free to message me anytime. It took us almost a year to get pregnant with our son, so I know how fragile it all can feel. Take care and congratulations!

HI V.,

Some people experience more symptoms than others and hopefully you'll have a nice easy pregnancy. It is scary when the symptoms go away but that happened to me too. I took 5 pregnancy tests with my daughter because I didn't "feel" pregnant!! It might set your mind at ease to take one and/or call your Dr.

Good luck!

I don't think that is the case with most pregnancies. I have 3 kids now, and I don't remember my breasts being sore for the whole time, it kinda went off and on....I think that hte more you stress about it, the more likely something bad is to happen because the baby senses your stress - good luck

My fertility specialist said once they see a strong heartbeat in early ultrasound, there is a 95% chance of everything being ok. So don't worry; enjoy your pregnancy! Rest and go on lots of dates with your hubby, because once that baby comes...your life will be forever changed. =)

Hello and congrats..
Apart from breast tenderness at first, I had NO other signs.. no morning sickness, no tiredness, no nothing..because of this, I didn't realize I was pregnant and thought, oh my period is late.. it wasn't until about 2 1/2 to 3 mos late that I took a pregnancy test.. now some might think, omg.. 3 mos.. but my periods had been irregular throughout my life, so 3 mos was nothing..
I wish you the best! if you end up worrying too much about no symptoms, then do check with your doctor, that is your best bet.

good luck !! :)

Hi V.,

It is always possible and you should consult your doctor, but for me the breat tenderness was the first thing to go away. As a matter of fact, I didn't have any tenderness at all with my third pregnancy. I had a miscarriage in between my two children, and so I also panicked with my third pregnancy. I would be driving to work and start crying histerically because I wasn't feeling nautious. The truth is the all pregnancies are different and some people (like my lucky sister) have no symptoms at all. I would relax but, as I said, definitely talk to you doctor just as a precaution.

I wouldn't worry too much. The symptoms can come and go. I never had really major ones with our first child and all went fine. You can read all sorts of things online about pregnancy that will scare you, but keep in mind the odds are in your favor that all will go just fine.

Best wishes to you on your first pregnancy!

Don't stress out, maybe you are one of the luck few that have a nice easy pregnancy. You can't do anything about it, so try to relax. Keep taking great care of your baby and try not to worry.
Congrats on this happy time in your life. Soon your going to be very busy, so enjoy the time with your partner and don't focus on what you can't control.

Hi V.,

My name is P.. I was 11 wks pregnant and didn't feel my pregnancy symptoms anymore. Got a little worried. But, all my girlfriends told me that it happens. Your body changes constanly during your pregnancy. So I wasn't worried at all.

I had a little brown spotting and girlfriends assured me that it was normal. Again, I wasn't worried at all. Then a few days later. I had a miscarriage.

If you feel uncertain about something. Just call your doctor and make an appointment to go in. Better safe than sorry.

Good luck!!

V., I too had very little pregnancy symptoms until the very last part of my pregnancy. You may not "feel" any for a month or two but then you'll start showing and then feeling. Next time you see your doctor you can mention your concerns but really.....this is all natural and remember that each woman is different. We're not robots, though at times it may seem that way. Ha! Good luck and sleep well......you'll need the sleep now for later on when you don't get any.

Hi V..

First of all, I'd like to say congratulations! Second, I would urge you to go buy a home pregnancy test and see what it says. I've miscarried 3 times. My first pregnancy I was pregnant with twins (didn't know it at the time) and was at my scheduled appointment to hear the heartbeat. I had MAJOR pregnancy symptoms and was EXTREAMLY TIRED all the time.. I literally could not keep myself awake. Anyways, they tried the heart doppler and couldn't find a heartbeat so they did an ultrasound, at which time they told me I was pregnant with twins. They then proceeded to say that neither of my babies had a heartbeat.. =(
The next miscariage I had gone in, heard the heartbeat and like you... lost my symptoms.. I took a home pregnancy test and the line was so light I was very worried.... I took another test 2 days later and the line was gone... I schedulled an appointment and sure enough...my baby didn't have a heartbeat. I don't want to scare you, but it can happen. On another note, some women get pregnant and have very few if any pregnancy symptoms until the end. Needless to say, if you have any concern at all... see your OBGYN... that is what they are there for. Like someone else said, you aren't the only new mama who has questions and concerns.. it's their job to put your mind at ease. Good Luck and I wish you a happy, healthy pregnancy!

For my first 5 weeks, I didn't even want shower spray on my nipples. They hurt that much. I woke up one morning, and the boobs were fine again. (Aside from balooning out to size huge at two months along.) If you are still worried, do another over the counter pregnancy test.

Good Luck,
K.

You're just lucky! (&, according to some theories, well-nourished). I don't have much in the way of early pregnancy symptoms, either, and tend to use a lot of pregnancy tests just for reassurance, till things become more obvious. If you want to do that, http://earlypregnancytests.com sells 'em in bulk, much cheaper than the stores sell 'em.
