with my daycare, I've done the photo album & every single Mom cried! They loved seeing a year in their child's life.

I've also used a month-long project for the kids. Each child is given a pale blue poster board. Every couple of days, we add an element to the board... beginning with a Christmas tree....then decorating the tree....putting the star/angel on top. We add in fake snow....build a snowman out of quilt batting. We build a shed/barn.....& a manger....& then add in the elements of the Nativity. All thru the weeks of adding elements, I read stories to the children to tie in all of the elements.....ending with "Santa's Favorite Story" - which is the Nativity! This is an awesome all-encompassing project, & it truly does hold the children's interest thru-out the season. Good Luck!

We got a watch me grow project on Pre-K - I still have it. The teacher had taken pictures and it was different assigments. One of the pictures even has them on the floor next to building blocks so you can see the size. It is about an 1 - 2 inches thick. I plan to keep it for him when he is older

I loved the photo book that my DD's old daycare did for us. It was so sweet! And when I ran an in-home daycare I did (for Easter) a bookmark that said "Thumb bunny loves you" and made a bunny out of the kid's thumbprints. We have also done handprint clay ornaments and I LOVE Sue's idea about the month-long project! So cute!

You can make a booklet by pasting pictures of the child on poster board. On each page write a brief description.

Walgreens and probably other stores with on line photo shops will also put together booklets using your pictures for a nominal price. Go to their website to see what it is and the cost.

I can copy anything I see. Thinking it up on the other hand is nearly impossible for me. I go online to scrap-booking sites and look at their layout sections. I can make some awesome layouts if I copy them or use them for inspiration. I think the photo album is a very cute idea. We took pictures at my child care center and I made layouts and posted them on the walls of the classrooms and in the hallways. I would often find the parents walking around just looking for their kids pictures.

Hi Cecilia,

There are so many great projects you can do! This is one of my favorites:

Footprint reindeer.

Trace each child's foot (with the shoe off) on brown paper. Glue this to another sheet of paper with the toes at the bottom and space at the top. Then trace both hands on brown paper. Glue the hands to the sides of the foot at the top with the fingers going up. These are the antlers. Have the children draw the eyes, nose and mouth. This works best if you have two shades of brown paper-one for the head and one for the antlers.

You can buy contact paper and "laminate" them very inexpensively.

Whatever you choose, have fun!

One simple project I did with our neighborhood kids was a handprint keepsake. I bought Christmas printed material, embroidery hoops, ribbon and white, washable paint. The hoops were 6", just large enough for the kids hands to fit in. I cut the material to fit just a little bigger than the hoops. I had each child put their hand in the white paint and then place their hand on the material. Once it was dried, I put the material in the hoop. Last I tied a ribbon on the top so it could be hung up. Oh on the inside of the hoop (where you can still see it) I wrote their name and the date. This was a nice keepsake for the parents. I keep mine hanging on my wall all year long. If you want pictures, just shoot me a private message and I'll be happy to send it.
