I am looking for a pre-school in Fort Mill. Do the public schools have a pre-K program? We will be in the Orchard Park Elem. area. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We have our 2 children in Kids R kids. We absolutely love it there. You can view them online while you're at work. Or for family that may be far away. They can watch too. It's on Hwy 160 just passed Gold Hill, coming from Baxter. Hope this helps.

I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids- 6 yr old son (attends Orchard Park-1st grade, 2 1/2 yr old daughter and 14 month old son. We live in Baxter and have a lot of friends who have their kids in Field of Dreams (here in Bxtr)..they have the online classroom viewing also...very convenient if you have a child attending OPES..

We have been here in the Fort Mill area for about 1 1/2 yrs and we LOVE it! Hope this helps! Maybe we can do a playdate sometime.

There are a number of good pre-schools in Fort Mill. When I first moved here almost ten years ago there were few to select from. One of the best then and still one of the best is the one at Leroy Springs Recreation Center. They tend to have teachers who have longevity and love their positions. They also have access to a pool for the students once a week as well as other weekly activities where the students recognize one another. Until other schools began to open this school had a waiting list to get into it. Enrollment begins at the age of three.

The public school system has a program however it is difficult to get into. There is also a program called Leap Ahead which is run by a local agency and provides programs for you to attend with your children and will also provide a counselor to come to your home and interact with your children to insure they are prepared for school. I used it and enjoyed it. There was no cost and it is not based on income.

There are also a couple private preschools in Rock Hill which were recommended to me, both are located DT off of Winthrop Ave.. Suddenly I'm at a loss for their names but they are both Christian based and with churches across the street from one another near the Hearld newspaper. One had a music program. I don't believe the cost was much different than Leroy Springs.

Sometimes it truly depends on where you live and how you feel when you enter a facility. When my daughter was younger I took her into Appleseed and she did not like it. I would later have a converstation with the woman who owned it and I did not like her responses to my questions. Someone else I knew had a daughter who went there and loved it. When your child gets into kindergarten it's not as easy to select teachers for him/her but in developing at this earlier stage while you have the say so I have no qualms in taking charge and directing the path.

Good Luck!
