you go to cook your chicken and you open the package (before the sell-by date) and the stench knocks you over?

Yeah, me neither.

I'll be getting a refund from the store, but do I have to bring this rancid science experiment with me? I can't go til tomorrow and I don't want it stinking up my kitchen/

What can I do next?

I'd call them to let them know what happened and to not expect the poultry back....I couldn't imagine they would want it either. I think they just trust people on this....

Oy, I hate when that happens.

did you rinse it under cold water? often times you are smelling blood and bacteria that can be rinsed away. I always do that first when I smell THAT smell and 8 times out of 10 the chicken turns out ok.

if you are sure it's a jacked up chick, call the store and let them know you will be in tomorrow WITH the empty package since you've already tossed the foul fowl into the dumpster.

Yuck, I can smell it now, LOL!

I always bag it and bring it to the store the next day. I don't care if it's blood or surface bacteria, if it smells then don't use it! I hate that smell.

HOLY SMOKES!! I was there last month!!! It was HORRIBLE!!! And it was stored properly...URGH!!!!

I would bring the meat with you. Put it in a ziploc bag and put it in the fridge!!!

I'm REALLY sorry that it happened to you as well!!!

Yuck. I would call the store and ask if you can just bring the receipt in and get rid of that nasty thing.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I also hate it when this happens and then I have to scramble for a "Plan B" for dinner!

Yes, you have to bring it. When this happened to me (twice) I wrapped it up in saran wrap soooo tight that the scent could not get out. The store even bought me a new pkg of saran wrap (I used about half of the container).
