I mean if you put the packed on his high chair and he got it - why are you asking about it now? Otherwise, how would he even be anywhere near something like that?
It was the chicken pack that it comes in amd idk if he got it in mouth i immediately rinced his mouth out and brushed his teeth with baby tooth pasted. Should i be worried? Im still freaking out.

Hey T.: Chances are your son didn't get any micro-organisms with the chicken pack. I wasn't even going to respond to your question except then I read another response that kind of said that some people eat raw meat all the time and because of that, not to be concerned. Raw meat and poultry is potentially dangerous and should be taken seriously- and handled appropriately. Raw chicken or its juices should never be eaten on purpose. (I know your son didn't on purpose!) Foodborne illnesses are caused -mostly from bacteria, viruses and protozoans and each organism has its own growth potential and if it does grow, has its own individual rate and time of growth. To grow, most organisms rely on another food source (like an unrefrigerated chicken leg or bare hand) to grow on. In your son's case, if he actually was exposed to raw chicken juice, the potential for growth is not just from ingesting the product, but also from any handling he had with the pack and any juices that may have gotten on his hands - or any toys/ objects he may have touched after handling the chicken pack. Make sure to wash his hands and sanitize anything he may have touched after touching the package.
Usually we are warned to look for symptoms of cramping, vomiting, or diarrhea when exposed to potential food borne illness. It's hard when your son is only eight months to determine if and when he is showing signs of cramping. I wouldn't hesitate to call physician if he shows any signs of distress.
This is an opportunity for all of us to remember to be careful when handling grocery bags, shopping carts, refrigerator shelves - or anything that may have been in contact with raw meat and poultry. Best wishes to you and your son!
Aw, gross. Nothing to be done about it though. He will either be fine (most likely) or he will get ill, but the good thing is that if he gets sick in the next 48 hours you will know exactly why and can take him for prompt treatment.
How old are you? This isn't a text forum. Please type your request as though you are writing a letter to someone vs texting. It makes you more credible vs looking like a teen.
How did an 8 month old get a pack of chicken with juice?
Very gross but I'm sure it won't be the worst thing he will ever ingest. Just watch him.
T.,
Welcome to mamapedia.
Your son is fine. The small amount your son POSSIBLY ingested is negligible, so I doubt VERY seriously he got any bacteria in him that he hasn't consumed from picking his nose, putting his hands in his diapers, etc.
You rinsed his mouth out. You brushed his teeth. He's fine. Stop freaking out.
How did he get the packet in the first place? THAT would be my concern.
PLEASE don't text type.
I would just keep an eye out for the typical food poisoning symptoms, such as vomiting and diarrhea.
This is the sort of thing you call your pediatrician about. There's a 24/7 line - feel free to use it. You know the doctor, the doctor knows your child. You can also call Poison Control 800 number. Going to a mothers' forum on the internet is too distant from you reality, and it wastes precious time in a true emergency. So it would be wise to learn what your local resources are for immediate response.
But I agree that it's probably fine, and that you will know if he gets some digestive distress exactly what caused it. There's really nothing for you to do now, is there? I suppose you could consider holding on to the package label in case there's a recall or health alert for that particular store's brand of chicken, but that's so unlikely I hate to see you go to the trouble.
The body has an immune system, and we can't go around sterilizing everything with bleach in case our kids touch it.
how the heck does an 8 month old get a food packet like this?
please do not text type. it makes you look like a 17 year old troll. Without trying to be the grammar police, spelling correctly would help too.
If your son downed the whole juice packet, he might get some food poisoning. Watch for vomiting and diarrhea. You can call your pediatrician's after hours
Keep your son under your eye so nothing like this happens in the future. Next time it might be a knife that he gets a hold of.
Some people eat raw meat, I don't because it's just gross to me. But I wouldn't worry.
If he didn't start puking up the chicken blood he'd just swallowed then he's already digested it and it's in his intestines diarrhea and it doesn't stop after a time or two then I'd call the doc.
Yes, you should be worried. Not run screaming to the ER worried, but worried. Raw chicken can be, but is not always, contaminated with salmonella. Salmonella is extremely dangerous for small children. If he starts vomiting and/or having lots of diarrhea, you should take him to the doctor right away. There is nothing a doctor could do right now even if he was exposed. He will probably be fine, but don't spend time pondering going to the doctor if he starts showing symptoms.
it's gross, but no need to freak out. the freaking out will probably cause more problems than the chicken blick.
babies get into things, even with vigilant parents. i dug a cat turd out of my older's mouth, and my younger was an inveterate nommer of bugs and dirt.
stop freaking out unless your baby shows signs of food poisoning.
and he won't.
kids are resilient, at least unless they're raised in hermetically sealed bubbles.

If he doesn't get a killer case of diarrhea in the next day or so, don't worry at all. If he does, then go to the pediatrician for advice. He should be fine. Just watch him.
I would not worry. Raw chicken can cause ecoli or samonella. If he starts showing symptoms of ecoli or samonella, then you will know how he got it, and you will take him to the doctor and treat him for it. If he doesn't show any symptoms of ecoli, then forget it ever happened. Really no point in worrying about something that hasn't happened yet and something that you can't change.
