Potty Training to Panties

Our 2 & 1/2 yr old daughter is fully potty trained as long as she has a dress on with no panties. We are having the hardest time getting her to transition to panties. She picked out her own princess panties but will hold it until she can't anymore and pees on the floor or poops in the underwear. Any suggestions or idea how many days of cleaning the carpets we are in for?! Also, when do u transition to leaving the house in undies? I really hate dealing with public restrooms or pee on the floor in public! I know it's unevitable but I just can't help procrastinating! Thanx! :) BTW it was her idea to use the potty, she woke up one morning and said "mommy I want candy, I go pee pee in the potty" and did every time since, poop too, luv it! I'm just having issues with the panties :) I would of probable procrastinated the whole thing! :)

What can I do next?

So wait...she won't have accidents when she's pantsless but she will otherwise? Crazy. That sucks for you. ;) We're potty training right now too, my daughter is 3 next month so I waited longer, but something that helps us is the plastic pants. I was super nervous to leave the house too and I feel a bit more secure when she wears those. I just put them over the panties and they fit surprisingly well underneath her clothes. They don't bulge or anything even though they look kinda bulky by themselves. The down side is they are really hot. Every time she wears them she sweats and sometimes I mistake it for pee! So, I only used them the first few days when leaving the house and this past week at church, cuz that would have been one of my worst nightmares! ;) I got them from a friend but they are Gerber brand so I would guess you could find them at Babies R Us maybe?? Do what you have to do. I procrastinated until she's almost 3 and so far (it's been 8 days) things are going super awesome for us and panties, so I'm sure she'll get it!

Oh, that's rough. I would suggest keeping her in panties full time and taking her to the potty every hour or so. Don't ask, just tell her its time to go potty. Then take her panties off and make her sit. The moment she's off the potty put the panties back on. Be consistent, you'll get through this before you know it.

Use padded underwear, which is what I used.

There is the brand "Potty Scotty" underwear that is padded in the middle to wick up accidents. Its very good.

Also though, your girl cannot hold her bladder... so the underwear used won't matter, until her BIOLOGICAL cues and development, is more on par.
She will have accidents. Any kid will. It is all part of learning... until they are completely 'mastered' in it and their biological development.

I would suggest the plastic bloomers at Target or walmart. They go over panties. It will catch anything from an accident, but since they are plastic, they are EXTREMELY uncomfortable wet. Saves you the mess, she still gets to wear her princess undies but it is a great tool to make her hate an accident.
I am SUPER lucky that my son has never had an accident in public (cross my fingers) -- dirty bathroom thing on the other hand -- I just have to get over it. It is so sick, he touches EVERYTHING. He sits backward on the potty so he touches the seat, under the seat Blegh!!! So its soap and hand sanitizer CITY. Not to mention the fact that he has to strip naked before he will go -- guess thats a boy thing. Nothing else to do about it.
