Ok so I thought my almost 4 year old daughter was fully potty trained. But lately at night she wont come out of her room to use the bathroom, she will just pull her dresser drawer all the way out and go to the bathroom in there. Any advice on how to get this to stop. Im tired of her room smelling all the time.

What can I do next?

Put a potty chair in her room by the dresser. She may be afraid of the dark. Also, try putting up some nightlights so she can see down the hall, or where ever it may be dark. You may try asking her why she doesen't want to use the big potty at night.

What about just putting a little potty in her room? At least then she would have a proper place to go and stop peeing in her dresser. I am not sure how big her dresser is, but if it is small enough I would turn it around at night so she doesn't have access to it. Maybe this would force her to go to the bathroom.

Is this just a night time thing? If so, what about putting her back in pull ups at night? It sounds like she may be doing this in her sleep and may not be fully aware of what she's doing.

If you have a training potty try moving it there in front of the dresser, she just might be still asleep and she is thinking that she is using the potty. Oh, and if this is happening at the same time every night, try waking up a little before the time she wakes up and get her up and put her on the potty. Wish you the best of luck!!

It sounds like she is either acting out for some reason (doesn't sound like she's just trying to get attention), or she could be such a heavy sleeper that she is still asleep and thinks she's going to the toilet. Definitely talk to her. She's old enough to understand what you're saying and to verbalize a little of what is going on.

I feel for you. She's 'feeling the pressure' of the new baby and is acting out because she remembers losing some of your time w/ her little sister, even tho it's (probably) completely subconscious. Maybe you could put a potty chair in her bedroom and then give her extra reassurrances that the new baby will not change your love for her. I don't remember having a problem when I was pregnant with my second one, but that was a really long time ago (my kids are grown & out of the house). But, that's just what came to mind when I read your question. Congratulations on the new one (and the two you already have!!)

R.,
sounds like something my brother used to do. But he was sleep walking. He didn't know what was happening. Try something that would wake her so that she sees what she is doing or where she actually needs to go.
