Potty Training at Night? - Sturgis,SD

I have twin boys that just turned 3 in May. They have been potty trained for awhile now. They still wear pull-ups for naps & night time. If they take a short nap they don't need a pull-up & majority of the time they are dry. During the night one of them will wake up to pee (but not all of the time) & the other one will sleep right though the night and will have a wet pull up in the morning. Is this something that will just come with time or is there anything I can do to get them to realize they have to get up & go or not go while they are sleeping?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you EVERYONE for all your advice & reassurance. I wont worry about them at night. I just hate spending the money on pull ups, and I can't got to diapers (cheeper) since they need to pull them down in the middle of the night to pee. I don't think they would get a diaper back on!
Thanks again!!!

I also have twins who are now 5. My daughter stopped wearing pull ups at night early in their 4th year. My son still wears them. On a very few occasions he has woken during the night and I have prompted him to go potty and a few times he has woken with a dry pull up but most nights he sleeps through the night and has a wet pull up. As you already know having twins yourself, they develop at different rates, and kids in general hit milestones at different times. It's totally normal for a 3 year old to still need pull ups at night. Don't stress over it. They will get there.

It is totally normal to sleep very soundly and not wake up to pee. your son will gradually with time stop peeing at night. Good Luck it's not easy!

Normal and just takes time like the others have said. Both of my boys wore nighttime pull-ups until they turned 6. One never had an accident at night after his 6th birthday, the other one had accidents off and on (not on a regular basis) until age 8-9.

My son is 9 and wets the bed about once a week or every other. Doesnt' matter if we moniter the liquid or potty 10 times before bed- it still happens. My husband swears it's because he gets too hot at night, so we are trying to eliminate the big heavy blankets. The Dr's say it's fine, and I figure if they make Good nights for up to 110 lbs, we aren't the only ones, nor the oldest ones experiencing this. My step son wet the bed til he was 13, so, it happens, and at 3 yrs old, I wouldn't waste too much energy worrying about it

They are too young to physically be able to control this while they sleep on any consistent basis. Generally, children aren't reliably dry until approximately 5 years old, but many can still need those pullups up through 10 years old--- and that's still NORMAL.

Start the routine of no drinks 2 hours before bed, etc., but I'd hold off expecting dry pullups for another year or so. And don't be surprised if one or the other goes long periods of time without night peeing, only to start again- this can be very normal too, especially with boys, and after a long or tiring day. They simply sleep too deeply to be able to hold it, wake themselves up, and get to the bathroom. Eventually they will, though.
It's all good!

It is perfectly normal not to have night control until up to age 5-6. Perfectly normal! There is nothing you can do to make them realize they have to go. Their body has to be physically and physiologically ready. There is a hormone that is secreted that flips the switch and most kids don't have it till closer to 5 (or a bit longer).

I never used pull-ups-didn't want to waste extra money on a glorified diaper (that didn't work as well as a diaper) lol. I never made the connection with my kiddo that diapers were for babies and pull ups were for big kids. Just that he needed a nite nite doot doot for protection. :)

I didn't restrict liquids with mine but of course I wasn't pushing liquids either at night lol. But they are very young and if they want a drink it's not going to make an ounce of difference at their age.
